TAHINI RECIPE - HOMEMADE TAHINI SAUCE

 Sesame seed paste or Tahini is the magical ingredient which offers your body with wonderful health benefits. It is the main component while preparing Hummus. You will never go for store bought canned hummus after trying out this recipe. Do try this simple and easy two ingredients recipe at home  that can keep your heart healthy and never go for store bought instead. Sesame Seeds and Olive oil is the only ingredients for this excellent dipping.. As Tahini is very flavorful, it is quite easy to add  in your favorite recipe or for spreading it over a simple vegetable salad. Tahini is a staple in many cuisines especially in the  Mediterranean and middle east. Mostly in Lebanese, Armenian, Greek, Iranian, Palestinian, North African and Bulgarian cuisines. Tahini is served as a dipping sauce on its own or as a major ingredient in Hummus and Tahini salad dressing.  It is a condiment made from ground Hulled Sesame Seeds or unhulled sesame seeds(not from the black sesame seeds). But i prefer hulled sesame seeds onlyDo you know the nutritional facts of Tahini sauce? Tahini is an excellent source of copper, manganese along with the great source of healthy omega - 3 and omega - 6 fatty acids. It is a useful addition to vegetarian and vegan diets as it has high levels of calcium and proteins.  Here is the recipe showing how to make Tahini sauce. 



INGREDIENTS (1 cup = 210 ml)

White Sesame seeds / hulled sesame seeds                     - 1 cup
Olive oil                                                                          - 3 tsp
(you will get exactly 10 - 12 table spoons of tahini sauce)

PREPARATION










  • Dry roast the sesame seeds over a medium low flame until golden and well toasted.
  • When done, transfer it to a plate and allow it to cool.
  • Once cooled, powder it in a blender.
  • Scrape the side of the blender and again powder it until the seeds starts to leave oil.
  • Open the lid and add olive oil little by little until it forms a thick smooth paste. It should be little creamy in consistency.
  • Transfer it to a bowl and set aside to cool.
  • You can store in an air tight container in refrigerator for a month.
