From wetlands to woodland, the Veluwe is markedly different from the region surrounding the Ijsselmeer. Characterised by forests, sand dunes and heathlands, the Veluwe is most well-known for its National Park. De Hoge Veluwe National Park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including red deer, wild boar, mouflon and roe deer. October half term is the best time of year to visit, with the forests glowing luminous shades of red and orange. For some art and culture, a visit to the Kröller-Müller Museum is an absolute must. Situated in one of Europe’s largest sculpture gardens, this museum has an extensive outdoor gallery which is perfectly complemented by the stunning natural surroundings.
