Traditional Employee Surveys are Still the Gold Standard

When it comes to Employee surveys, a common question from prospective clients is ‘How often should I survey my employees?’ It used to be organizations relied on an annual employee survey to collect feedback but in our world today, big data platforms embrace micro-surveys on every topic imaginable including where we work. Ever since employee engagement became a buzzword, employee surveys have moved from being an annual event to a sometimes weekly and even daily event.. Do we ever get tired of surveys? You bet we do!

Robert Gray, President of Insightlink Communications, an employee research company that has been doing employee surveys for over 20 years, genuinely believes that an annual employee survey is still the gold standard for collecting feedback from employees. In his recent LinkedIn article, Traditional Employee Surveys Are Still the Gold Standard, Gray cautions organizations, that even though you can survey your employees all the time, that doesn’t mean you should.

Based on decades of employee survey experience Gray has witnessed the effects of over surveying employees and how it leads to survey burnout and, equally important, how it leads to analysis paralysis and an inability to action the results. When all your employees get to chime in, an annual employee survey is still the best way to get the whole picture about what it really going on in your organization.
