Designerlebrity Set Design

Last week, I mentioned the Interior Design Society (IDS) National Conference in Dallas—it starts tomorrow morning and I’m so excited to welcome designers from around the country to the Dallas Market Center. This promises to be an exceptional experience for attendees.

It is my tremendous honor to design the set for the Closing Event, the Designerlebrity™: Building a Breakthrough Brand panel. Hosted by celebrated interior designer Barbara Viteri, this is the closing event and a wonderful capstone for the conference. Viteri has selected three trendsetting designers: Nick May, creator and host of The Chaise Lounge podcast; Jennifer Wagner Schmidt, creator of Box of Chic; and Nina Magon of Contour Interior Design.

While I can’t spoil the surprise by revealing too much, I’d love to tell you about what will be on the set.

Home furnishings will be provided by Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams. Arteriors is graciously providing accessories, Marterials marketing is donating some beautiful Alex Turco art panels, and florals are provided by Curated by Baker Design Group.

Last year featured Viteri’s first Designerlebrity interview at an IDS conference. She partnered with Christine Conte for set design for an interview with the Million Dollar Contractor, Steve Fanuka. The partnership and design came off so brilliantly, House Magazine dedicated a two-page spread to the photos of the design!

My team and I are thrilled to have been chosen as the set designer for Designerlebrity. As of this date I haven’t met Barbara Viteri in person, but we have had many phone and email conversations. People are asking me where I got my inspiration for the set. It was easy, I reply. Barbara is bubbly, vivacious, and a little edgy, so we designed the set to reflect her personality.

My involvement with IDS is so important to me—I currently serve on the national IDS board on the executive committee and I am chair of the conference committee. I’ve also served as the president and also on the board of directors for the Dallas chapter of IDS. The members of IDS are all so giving and talented. We share ideas, business practices and references. When one is a member of IDS and a sole proprietor they never feel like they are in business alone!

I’ve made some amazing friends and I know that my business would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for my association with IDS. I will be giving back to IDS members for a long time to come.

I look forward to seeing you at the conference tomorrow!
