Video Clip of The Week: Doe, “Sincere”

Hey, I know it’s still early in the morning, but let’s rock a little bit, shall we? And perhaps also enjoy a bit of Breakfast Cereal and assorted food porn, courtesy of the video for an earnestly awesome tune called “Sincere”, from London-based three piece Doe. The band’s lead singer/guitarist Nicola Leel, is just so, so pretty (Also: Pink Hair), but she sounds like she could kick your ass, so watch out!

According the to band, “‘Sincere’ is a rage pop song about dudes who are great at learning and regurgitating information and appearing like they actually give a shit about women’s issues, when their behavior in private shows a different story. [The lyrics] ‘I know who you are when no-one else is looking’ pretty much sums it up.” Sounds a lot like a certain orange-faced dude currently running for public office here in the US, but I digress.

Doe’s “hook-sharp, melody-based-yet-heavy rock songs have been compared to The Breeders, Weezer and Sleater-Kinney (all valid), but way “Sincere” reminds me most of is L7’s sublime “Pretend We’re Dead.” Your mileage may vary. Nicola’s band-mates include Jake Popyura (drums, vocals) and Dean Smitten (guitar), and “Sincere” can be found on the band’s latest album, Some Things Last Longer than You, which will be available September 9th, 2016 via Old Flame Records. Enjoy!
