An Act of God?

Normally, I would not post this here, but elsewhere, but since the words “act of God” are mentioned often, it seems to be a good starting place for this post.

The “que sera, sera” attitude is totally contrary to the Bible.  However, it permeates everywhere and the end result of it is for man to take no responsibility and to blame God.

This idea has been discussed more than once on this blog.

Are we subject to fate?  Does God control everything?  Is what happening “God’s fault”?  Or is something else going on?

Alert:  It is not God’s fault

This has been covered before, but it will be reviewed briefly.

God created the world and Adam.  God gave dominion to Adam.  Adam (and Eve) disobeyed God.  Adam lost authority.  Jesus came as the Second Adam to restore what the first Adam lost.  Jesus successfully completed his mission.

BUT

What Jesus did is not automatic.  As many as received him [Jesus] gave he power to become the sons of God.  When a person is born into the family of God, they have access to the promises of God and other blessings.

BUT

While being born again is a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit, not of works, (no man can work himself into being born again), accessing the promises of God does require faith and obedience.

In other words, for example, if you want to be blessed financially, you need to be consistently faithful in tithes and offerings.  Period.  You can’t disobey the law of the tithe and expect to be blessed any more than you can disobey the law of gravity by jumping off of a high place and expect not to be hurt.  Jesus said to not tempt the Lord God.

There is a sloppiness in the overall thinking of about God and this leads to people blaming God because they don’t understand their duties and responsibilities towards God.  It’s a combination of how the world runs things, a “sloshing over” of the thinking of the world into the thinking of the church as well as a casualness…yeah, Jesus did it all, so I don’t need to do anything (wrong).  There is a misunderstanding of grace.  Grace gives power to do the right thing, not the license to do the wrong thing.  And there is a misunderstanding of who is responsible for the earth.

The heaven, even the heavens are the Lord’s, but the earth he has given to the children of men.

God gave that responsibility to man in the beginning.  Man lost it.  Jesus bought it back.  Man needs to utilize by faith and obedience what Jesus did to successfully enforce the work of Christ against satan.

Jesus won the war against the devil.  The church needs to enforce it.

Many are probably aware of the tragedy of Uvalde.  The greater tragedy is that it could have been stopped, but wasn’t.  People who had the badge of authority to act did nothing.  While they waited, children and teachers were murdered.

That’s not a lot different from what is happening today on a larger scale.  It is not God doing things to us.  It is man failing to stop sinful men who have illegitimately taken control of numerous narratives.

WE CANNOT BLAME GOD.

Jesus left work for the church.  While Jesus did it all in terms of dying on the cross, opening the way for the redemption of mankind, offering mankind the power of the blood of Jesus and the name of Jesus, it is still up to mankind to receive it and walk in it, operate in it.

In the garden, and now, there is always one thing that God will not violate.

That is man’s free will.

It’s been said that God gives man the freedom to go to hell if he wants to.

No man has to go to hell.

If a man refuses to accept what is offered to him, that is not the fault of the Saviour of mankind.

Satan only rules over the kingdom of darkness.  The name of Jesus, the authority of the name of Jesus, the promises of God, faith, the Blood of Jesus, the weapons of our warfare which are not carnal, but mighty through God, are successful when employed against darkness by faith and obedience.  But the church must employ them.

If it does not, Jesus is not to blame.

With that, here the video that sparked this blog post.
