Making its way to Netflix this month is the Ravikanth Perepu directed Krishna and His Leela. Being a fan of regional cinema, the movie to me seemed like a fresh take on love and relationships.
To think that you’ll never feel for anyone after a bad heartbreak is something almost everyone has been through but what will you do when you meet someone who touches your heart again without even trying to do that? Will you give up or hold to your new and old love! It’s messy but again, it’s love.
Starring Sidhu Jonnalagadda, Shraddha Srinath, Shalini Vadnikatti, and Seerat Kapoor along with other cast members, this Tollywood film is a heartful rom-com.
Side Effects Of Love
Krishna, to me, was like every other college student – confused, figuring himself out, immature, possessive, extensively sad sometimes and in love. The story starts with Krishna and his girlfriend Sathya, who leaves him because she got a job now and long-distance won’t work, it sucks. We Understand.
Krishna’s later relationship with Radha is what I found very beautiful, it’s new and raw – it’s sweet. But Krishna is a confused man, with intertwined feelings about both Radha and Sathya. While love triangles and complex feelings are more or less the basic structure of a rom-com, Krishna and his Leela manages to keep you hooked till the very end.

The characters are named after mythical fables – Krishna, Sathya, and Radha. The question is – if Krishna loves Sathya and Radha equally, who will get to be with him? While the names are mythical, the times and the story aren’t. Krishna must choose but to choose one is to lose a part of him. It’s complex, it’s heartbreaking but as I said- the complexity of feelings is often heartbreaking!
After the two hours span of the movie, Krishna finally understands after talking to his long-gone father that he cannot hold on to both of them just because he loves them, he cannot break their hearts (but… you did that before!)
Stream It or Skip It?
STREAM IT. Krishna and his Leela is a soft-hearted rom-com, dealing with the complexity of love and feelings. Love is the purest of motion and the unrestricted one! It’s mischievous. There are also some sexist aspects as Krishna says to himself when Radha is angry due to his stupidity that “it’s that time of the month, maybe.” Well, Krishna, glad you matured later.
Seerat Kapoor as Ruksaar also plays an amazing role, and she is also a part of Krishna’s Leela, and what happens between Krishna, Sathya, and Radha? To know, watch Krishna and his Leela and also, two-timing isn’t cool. Just saying.
