Doom Patrol to Debut a Second Season on HBO Max and DC Universe

Fans of Doom Patrol, DC’s original hit series, take note. HBO Max and DC Universe are all set to come out with the second season of the series after its May 27 launch date. The series will hit the streamer on June 25.

The fan-favourite misfits – Jane, Cliff Steele/Robotman, Larry Trainer/Negative Man, Rita Farr/Elasti-Woman and Vic Stone/Cyborg all return for new episodes of Doom Patrol.

The second season of Doom Patrol starts off after the defeat of Mr. Nobody. The members find themselves shrunken and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. However, as they wait here, the feelings of Niles Caulder aka The Chief’s betrayal slowly start to creepy in on them. Along with this, they are also forced to confront their own personal baggage. Along with trying to grow out of their past traumatic experiences, they must also protect the newest member of the family – Dorothy Spinner, Niles’s daughter. Dorothy’s powers, although mysterious, have the potential to bring about the end of the world.

Doom Patrol season 1 ran for 15 episodes and was a hit among the DC fans.

The cast consists of some big names like Brendan Frazer and Matt Bomer and also features some greater performances, especially from Diane Guerrero’s Crazy Jane – who seemingly has an infinite number of personalities. Other than these, we also have April Bowlby (Rita Farr), Jovian Wade (Victor Stone), Alan Tudyk (Mr. Nobody), and Timothy Dalton (Dr. Niles Caulder).

HBO Max will also have the entire first season of Doom Patrol on its May 27 launch date.

Season 1 follows an unlikely team of superheroes who all received their powers through tragic circumstances and are shunned by society. They are taken in by the Chief, a medical doctor who gives them residence at his mansion in a bid to protect them from the outside world. However, when Mr. Nobody captures the Chief, the team goes on a hunt to find and rescue him. Along the way though, they discover things about themselves and the Chief. Eventually they realise that the Chief was responsible for the tragic events that gave them their powers in the first place.

The first three episodes of Doom Patrol season 2 will be available on HBO Max’s launch date, while the remaining episodes will premiere every Thursday.

The plot of the second season does not seem to be much different than fans were already expecting – but there might just be some surprises on the way. This, especially, might be a thing because of the addition of Dorothy to the mix. Fans of the comics, even though might have some inkling about Doom Patrol’s upcoming season, will still have some guessing to do. Plus, Mr. Nobody can just rear his head again, who knows?

Notably, Doom Patrol has not been renewed for a third season as of yet. However, since it is present both on DC Universe and HBO Max, Warner Bros. might just have some faith on the series. Maybe if it gains momentum on both the platforms, the showrunners might just get a third season going. But for now, season 2 is not that far away.
