Will Deadpool Still Be R-Rated Character In Deadpool 3, Here Is What We Know

Ryan Reynolds noted a month ago that he is working with Marvel Studios on the upcoming Deadpool 3. Deadpool 3 would be the third Movie starring the titular character after his 2016 and 2018 Deadpool movie. The Deadpool 3 movie would also be the first set up with Marvel Studios and not Fox, leading to inquiries about whether or not Deadpool 3 would be R-rated. The answer to the R-rated character is a strong yes, according to the Deadpool writers.

The Pros Of Combining Disney And Twentieth Century Fox

There’s a lot of very cool stuff that can now occur thanks to Disney purchasing Twentieth Century Fox a while back. Sources have written widely about the pros of the joint venture between Disney and the studio that was previously Fox. However, the cons are that some projects have paused, and others have been canceled entirely.

Therefore, catching Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Deadpool 3 was being worked on was great news. Yet, a watered-down, PG-13 Deadpool who suits in the MCU is not what anyone reading this article is looking for, and, according to the Deadpool writer, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick, Deadpool movie should remain as foul-mouthed as ever.

Former Writer Has Not Been Announced For Deadpool 3

Now, it’s worth showing out a couple of things here. First, although the two wrote the first two Deadpool-oriented movies, it’s worth pointing out Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have not been declared for Deadpool 3, as the film is still in the initial stages, so it’s unclear how much information the two writers have. Also, Fox is not even a banner any longer. Recently, Disney stated that Disney would be dropping Fox’s name from its brands, meaning Fox Searchlight is now just Searchlight and Twentieth Century Fox Studios is currently only 20th Century Studios.

Still, this comment squares with what Disney boss Bob Iger said earlier about continuing in the business of making R-rated movies when it gets a sense for the company. Look, Disney has always delivered some R-rated movies, but the reason Deadpool gets a little mysterious and convoluted is that MCU movies have always been PG-13. The Marvel movies that have been R-rated have produced at Fox, where Deadpool and Logan were created. Tonally, Deadpool is not a character that belongs in, and there are lots of subjects about other X-Men characters and how they could suit in the MCU.

Eventually, everything is about X-men, and Deadpool is little in the air at this point. Still, it is saying that Ryan Reynolds met with Disney and has played ball and been on board with moving ahead with another movie, which is a promising sign. We understand that Reynolds is massively involved with the Deadpool movies, and he probably would not be interested in moving forward with Deadpool 3 if he did not think it made sense for his character.
