Space rock Bennu could come colliding with Earth sooner rather than later, conceivably stopping life on Earth, and a specialist has cautioned.

Space rock Bennu is of high significance to NASA, with the space organization’s Osiris Rex shuttle landing at the space rock a year ago. NASA’s Osiris-Rex will gather tests from Bennu and return them to Earth by 2023.

Notwithstanding, the space office is at Bennu for another explanation – there are little apprehensions that the space rock could come colliding with Earth inside a couple of hundreds of years.

One planetary space expert, Michael Busch of the SETI Institute, said there is an opportunity the space rock could hit Earth in 2175 and 2200. However, this relies upon the Yarkovsky impact.

However, NASA has said that while there is a little possibility Earth could be affected, “more than a great many years, of the entirety of the planets, Bennu is well on the way to hit Venus.”

For the present, in any case, NASA is focussing on returning examples from Bennu, which OSIRIS-Rex landed in December 2018 after an exhausting excursion of over a billion miles.

OSIRIS-Rex has now totally mapped Bennu and has chosen four potential locales that it could select tests from.

The arrangement next is to trim these destinations down to two, where it will gather tests from a one-inch zone.
