After A Star Is Born: Netflix Grabs Another New Bradley Cooper Film

Add Bradley Cooper to the growing list of male authors, whom Ted Sarandos has added to his Netflix list. As previously reported by Deadline and then other Hollywood trades, Cooper’s next biopic about the musician Leonard Bernstein has jumped from Paramount to Netflix. It is expected to start shooting early next year, and the untitled film will receive a dramatic boost from Netflix ahead of the streaming platform.

Netflix film director Scott Stuber said in a Deadline statement: “Bradley’s directorial debut was not spectacular and solidified as a serious filmmaker.” “His great passion and clear vision to encourage the relationship between iconic musician Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre, promises to do justice to his life like this famous film crew. We tell the story of our family. It is an honour to work with Bernsteins to share with the public everywhere. ”

Cooper’s address was, of course, A Star Is Born of 2018, which made the actor several Oscar nominations for a filmmaker, including Best Actor. But despite the good reviews, more than $ 430 million in the global box office and the craft industry of Memes, the film finally failed to connect with the Academy, winning only one prize (for Best Original Song). However, his success marked Cooper not only as an essential player in the Oscar machine, but as someone who “reasoned”, but is hoping to deploy in the future. (A curious fact about Cooper: he has received eight Oscar nominations since he starred in the 2012 Silver Linings Playbook, including three as producers: American Sniper, A Star Is Born and Joker).

Paramount signed up for the Bernstein Project in 2018 before A Star Is Born in theatres.

But the story of the study with this project begins even earlier: in 2015, Paramount was developing the Bernstein movie with Martin Scorsese, who instead left the cinema to become The Irishman. Scorsese, it should be noted, is one of several high-profile producers in the Cooper movie, including Steven Spielberg and joker director Todd Phillips. (Like the Cooper movie, Scorsese the Irish was also established initially in Paramount before leaving for Netflix money.)

Then there was Jake Gyllenhaal’s version of Bernstein’s story. Before it was announced that Cooper would join the Paramount Bernstein movie, it was revealed that Gianhal would play the role of the composer in the film directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.

As a result, Cooper will be the one to explore that. Gyllenhaal’s film could not secure the musical rights of Bernstein’s work, and since then, little has been known about the project.
