New Mexico Teacher Allegedly Physically Abused Students As Young As Of Second Grade, Sentenced

This week, a former New Mexico teacher was convicted in a physical assault case on a minor following a previous conviction in 2018.

Sources report that 62-year-old Gary Gregor molested two fourth grade kids during the 2007-2008 school year at the Fairview Elementary School in Española. Earlier this year, he was sentenced to 108 years in prison for “criminal physical penetration, criminal physical contact of a minor and kidnapping” after a jury determined him guilty in December 2018.

On Wednesday, a jury determined Gregor guilty of one count of criminal physically contact after he molested a second-grade kid in 2006 at the same school.

According to one of the victims, who is now 21-year-old, Gregor told her to stay in the class after recess and laid behind her on the carpet inside a classroom. The victim stated that she could sense the man’s erect private part on her back. She stated that she never told anyone about the incident afterward because she was too young at the time to know what was going on.

According to sources, the victim testified that Gregor made her class president and relocated her desk next to his. Gregor would then rub the legs of the girl below the desk.

Gregor’s defense lawyers claimed that the girl changed her story various times. They added that the case should be discharged, given that the victim included in a lawsuit against Española Public Schools, which involved three other students who sued Gregor of molesting them.

The victim got $2.3 million of an $11 million dollar compensation that New Mexico School District agreed upon, with the condition that the victims and other former students would withdraw the case.

“You are asked to rely on a story that has changed,” Gregor’s lawyer, Shelby Bradley stated. “But that intervening fact on the memory change was nearly $2.5 million. That is a lot of encouragement to think about something that occurred a long time ago as a kid.”

In Gregor’s previous trial, prosecutors described how he groomed kids by praising them and purchasing them gifts. He ultimately invited the children to his residence. Yet, the former teacher was not charged until one of the students spoke on a reality show in 2017.

One of the students, Nallelly Hernandez, said that she did not know what she could do to prevent Gregor.

According to sources, another victim said that she later left high school after the incident turned her into an “angry little girl.” The victim stated that she ended up doing narcotics at the age of 16 and she gave birth to a son when she turned 17. According to testimony, She does not have the baby in her life because of her narcotic addiction.

Gregor also had previous accusations against as a teacher in Utah, but he was never charged for the accusation that happened at Utah.

District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer told Gregor earlier this year that “What those kids learned in your classroom is that monsters are true. You abused them time and time again. You enjoyed your power over the kids, and now you are here because you are caught.”
