A Boston man has been arrested after he attacked another man with a Snow Shovel and cut his face with a Box Cutter, police said.

On Tuesday, a 58-year-old Eddie Smith was arraigned in Roxbury District Court where he was charged with two counts of attack and battery with a dangerous weapon, violence, and the violation of civil rights with an injury. He was freed on personal recognizance and is due to back in court on January 22 for a probable cause hearing about the crime he committed.

Police responding to a radio call of an attack and battery in progress at 11:57 a.m. on Tuesday at the corner of Tremont and Prentiss streets discovered an adult man suffering from a head injury that was bleeding extensively.

The victim was hurried to a hospital in Boston-area with non-life threatening wounds. Further details of the victim have not yet released.

According to a press release, police allege Smith hit the victim in the head with a snow shovel and “then take out a box-cutter and cut the victim over his eye.”

Smith escape from the scene on foot. He was later arrested in the area of Shawmut Avenue and Dudley Square. Police discovered both the box cutter and the shovel that was used in the crime by the 58-year-old Eddie Smith.
