Huawei P40 and P40 Pro – release date, price, camera, specification, OS

Huawei has still to launch to Mate 30 Series, but debates have started guessing the features of next year’s Huawei P40 and P40 Pro smartphones. The Huawei P30 was announced back in March this year and still one of the best camera smartphones with sleek and premium in-hand feel. Popularity wise, Huawei appears to snatch the number 1 position from Samsung to become the largest number of smartphone shippings around the globe.

Another doubtful criterion is whether the company will start using the Android or will adapt its newly launched harmony OS. The company has already cleared that they don’t have any plan to abandon Android OS unless the US ban them to use the mentioned OS; Therefore, we can see P40 series to continue with Android OS if everything goes fine. Further, in this article, we will be discussing all the features what we can expect from the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro. Without any further ado, let’s get started!

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro Design & Display

The Huawei P30 series is crafted with a full glass body surrounded by Aluminium pants. Itself it meets with current industry standards, but a wider notch on the P30 Pro could be a concern for some users given that other manufacturers are using more cool ideas like punch-hole design and motorised selfie shooter.

Even the company’s like Xiaomi and Oppo has already started testing the next level of in-display camera technology. At the current scene, we don’t hear much from Huawei on this matter and upcoming Mate 30 series is also expected to arrive with the same notch as we have seen on P30 Pro smartphone. But we won’t be surprised if the company directly jumps some extraordinary implementation like in-display camera, at least on P40 Pro.

When it comes to displaying, both Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are using Full HD+ OLED displays at 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. Definitely, here we need a higher resolution display on P40 series because VR/AR technologies are evolving quickly. For day to day usage, Full HD+ display is not a bad option because it also saves the battery, but for those who like to VR glasses, they can see a significant change in between Full HD and Quad HD, because every pixel matters while zooming the content. We can expect Huawei to at least QHD+ AMOLED display or even 4K resolution can’t be denied to beat the competition.

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro Hardware & OS

The company has already confirmed the imminent arrival of Kirin 990 chipset, that will be arriving at iFA 2019. The new chipset is rumored to use integrated 5G modem based on 7nm EUV process. It will be focused on 5G the company confirmes in its promotional material. Both P40 and P40 Pro will be compatible for 5G support undoubtedly and will be powered by the Kirin 990 chipset under the hood.

The P40 series will most probably touch the 12GB in-house LPDDR5X RAM. Other hardware features can also see the major changes such as enhanced audio experience, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and more. Moreover, the new series is likely to run on Android 10 based on latest EMUI 10 if the USA govt continues the trading with Huawei without any fear of privacy theft.

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro Camera

Both Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are using the triple rear camera with an additional ToF VGA sensor given to P30 Pro. To be frank, the company is doing relatively well in the camera department, and this is one of the strongest parts of “P” series. There are some rumors claiming the P40 series will arrive with Penta solution, just like the Nokia 9 PureView.

Moreover, Next-generation AI implications can also play a huge role to optimize the camera experience. We won’t be surprised if the company arrives with additional sensor focusing on videography and Kirin 990 chipset is confirmed to support up to 4K videos @60fps.

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro Price and Release

However, this is too early to make any guess on pricing, but the release date is expected to remain almost the same what we have seen in previous “P” series. Both P30 and P30 Pro was announced on 26 March 2019; therefore, we can expect Huawei P40 and P40 Pro to be announced around March or April 2020.

Overall, these are early speculation, so you can take it with a pinch of salt. We will keep updating this page as soon as we get more information about the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro. Stay tuned with us for further information! You are welcome to explore your thoughts in below comment section!
