I have been having so much fun using my Amaco Copper ArtEmboss! I found this cool gift box at Dollar Tree thinking it would make a nice Clock and was excited to see how my box clock would turn out.
Years ago I went through a phase of making clocks, so I have some cool clock faces. Since the ArtEmboss is so easy to emboss I could hardly wait to make a copper clock face!
First, the brass candlestick needed to be covered with my new “chunky” glitter from Recollections, it is similar to German Glass Glitter without the high price!
I used the vintage clock face for the size of the copper ArtEmboss clock face but used the smaller clock face for the numbers. All I did was trace over the numbers with the wooden stylus, really easy and it couldn’t have turned out better!
I covered the whole ArtEmboss clock face with black felt pen and dipped my finger in acetone fingernail polish remover which I applied to the copper lightly removing the felt pen in some areas and letting it settle into the embossed areas.
The corners of the pretty box needed a strip of copper ArtEmboss.
Fold it on to the corner and snip the extra flush with the corner of the box.
Use the wooden stylus to draw lines on the corners, and tuck the edges into the box lid after applying E6000 to all the surfaces of the ArtEmboss strip.
Make a hole in the center of the clock face. An awl makes a good access then use a larger pencil to make the hole wide enough for the clock works.
The candle stick lip needs some clearance, so you need to cut out a section of the box lid making sure the lid will close when the candlestick is attached to the box.
I have learned through the years you can’t count on the hot glue staying attached to the box clock by itself. I attach a bead to some wire and secure it with hot glue in the well of the candlestick. Then I run the wire into the box and swirl the wire securing it with hot glue covered with a circle of paper.
Use the instructions on the clock works to attach the works to the lid of the box.
Any normal person would stop here and be happy with a OOAK clock. But I am obsessed with dolls, especially Queen Elizabeth I. I made a sheet music collar and lined the top edge with left over pieces of ArtEmboss from the project. I have digital images of Queen Elizabeth so I printed her out on heavy cardstock and attached her face to the sheet music collar with some lace trim.
