Pop star Rihanna Advised Fans on Thursday to erase Snapchat after the social media app ran an ad making fun of her 2009 beating at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

R&B vocalist Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna in 2009. When a photo of Rihanna’s bruised face was released, the attack made headlines around the world. Snapchat stated in a declaration previously today that the advertisement “was evaluated and approved in mistake, as it breaks our advertising standards” and was eliminated on the weekend.

Snapchat on Thursday stated the advertisement was “disgusting and never ever ought to have appeared on our service.”.

“We are so sorry we made the dreadful error of permitting it through our evaluation procedure. We are examining how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens once again,” the company stated in a statement.

Rihanna’s comments were the most recent criticism for Snapchat. Its shares lost about $1.5 billion in market price in February after social networks celeb Kylie Jenner, who has some 105 million Instagram followers, tweeted that she did not like the Snapchat website’s redesign.
