Remember that time?

Remember that time?

– Poetry by Kevin Carlisle –

I Remember

I remember.
Finding you, there
seeing you lay
so still

The air itself
dared not to disturb.
your frail body,
So still

So still
your frail body,
dared not to disturb.
The air itself

so still
seeing you lay.
Finding you, there
I remember.

The Verge of June

Upon the Verge of June;
Where the summer nights
Held the sights of the sun
Glimmering longer, not wanting to rest.

I found you then

Upon the verge of June;
Where the darkest dreams
Held down the sight of you
Stagnating forever, not wanting to rest.

I found you then

Upon the verge of June;
Where your icy hands
Held between my own
Imprinting disaster, not wanting to rest.
I found you then, and I was screaming.

Mother

Remember that time
You helped me with my bike?
Boundless energy,
Flowing through the streets.
You helped me with my bike,
By setting me free.

Remember that time
You taught me how to write?
Not just the basics,
But the might of the pen.
You taught me how to write,
By saying anything was possible.

Remember that time
You gave me music lessons?
How the artistic soul
Shines the brightest.
You gave me music lessons,
By letting my voice bloom.

Remember that time
You showed me how to be good?
Not just courteous or kind
But strong, cautious, and loving
You showed me how to be good,
By being that example.

Remember that time
You passed away?
The lessons you taught
Set deep within my soul.
You passed away,
But I’ll always remember you.
