Twitter Improves Privacy Policy Ahead of GDPR Implementation

Twitter said on Tuesday it is updating its personal Privacy Policy to enable users to see information they share with the microblogging service and show how its being used, ahead of brand-new regulative guidelines on European data personal privacy laws.

Tech business are under intense analysis about how they safeguard consumer information after Facebook was involved in a substantial scandal where countless users’ information were incorrectly accessed by a political consultancy.

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into impact May 25 and is the most significant shake-up of privacy guidelines given that the birth of the internet.

Twitter’s privacy update coincides with GDPR’s guidelines. The changes are implied to make the Personal Privacy Policy visually clear and easy to use, Twitter’s Data Protection Officer Damien Kieran wrote in a blog site post.

Twitter said it is broadening and modifying the privacy policy material to make some legalistic or technical language as clear as possible.

“We think it’s absolutely essential that you know precisely what we indicate when we describe location information or data from advertising partners,” it said.
