Is President Biden really surrounded by Demonic Hedge of Protection?

The headline: Christian Pastor Claims Biden Surrounded By Demonic Hedge of Protection. Is it really true? Can it be true? Is it even possible? All these questions come to mind in a few short seconds. I literally just finished writing the description/introduction for articles that will be in the “God in U. S. Politics” portion of this site. I urge you to check it out if you haven’t read it yet. This is a poster child statement for what I just wrote.

I was going to include the question – is it even possible – in this article from msn news. However, before even getting to it, this got long. I try not to make my articles too long. Don’t want you to click away before the end. But I also don’t want to fall into the 30-second soundbite or 250 characters and no more “word-bite” either. I want to be complete. Our souls are at stake here, and it’s just too important to shortchange the discussion. so, it’ll come in a follow-up to this one.

I’m sure the article gained a lot of attention. I fear too many who claim to be Christian will agree with it.

It does sound scary, doesn’t it? And I suppose someone who follows conservative Republican Christian candidates is probably familiar with this particular Pastor. I’ve certainly heard the charges before about Democrats being led by evil people with various Satanic type beliefs and acts.

With today’s politics and 24-hour cable “news” outlets eager to get ratings, this kind of thing is big “news”. Seemingly gone are the times when news had to be true. Even the line between real and fake is completely gone.

The question though is how many will remember, and carry out, the command from Jesus that I included in the “God and politics” description. Just in case you didn’t look at the description page (yet?), here it is – in context.

The Greatest Commandment – Matthew

22:34-40 pp — Mk 12:28-31

Mt 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Mt 22:37 Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

We must decide for ourselves!

So as you read this, I urge you to use your mind. Remember what Jesus taught. Pay close attention to what this Pastor says. Them, with your mind, analyze everything and draw your own conclusions. Don’t accept mine just because I give them. But at the same time, don’t just accept anyone else’s either. Make your own conclusions. We are all responsible for ourselves. We all face judgment by ourselves. So we must decide what we believe and own our own faith.

Let’s go through the issues and see what’s going on.

Issue #1: Biden surrounded by Demonic Hedge of Protection because of election fraud

Here’s the first excerpt from the article in msn news:

Murillo’s remarks came during an interview with the Christian TV program Flash Point. The evangelical Christian minister leads Mario Murillo Ministries, based in Reno, Nevada, and frequently criticizes Biden and the Democrats. He has previously suggested that former President Donald Trump is still the legitimate president, not Biden.

I’m not going to say anything about this one. This charge has been brought up so often, and debunked so often, that it’s not really credible anymore. If someone believes it, there’s nothing anyone can say to change their mind. Even many of Trump’s allies in Washington have backed off this claim. It has been ruled a false charge all the way up to the Supreme Court.

Issue #2: Biden surrounded by Demonic Hedge of Protection because of LGBTQ issues

“War has been declared on your faith,” Murillo said during the interview, discussing his staunch opposition to LGBTQ rights, specifically the transgender community. The pastor argued that “this is not a gentle moment, this is not a courteous moment, this is a declaration of war,” before taking aim at Biden.

Is this war on faith new?

Yes, war has been declared on our faith. However, that war isn’t new. Not at all. That war began thousands of years ago. As a Christian, you should remember it.

The Fall of Man

Ge 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Ge 3:2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ”

Ge 3:4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Ge 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

Ge 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”

Ge 3:10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

Ge 3:11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from? ”

Ge 3:12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

Ge 3:13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Ge 3:14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed are you above all the livestock
and all the wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.

Ge 3:15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.”

Ge 3:16 To the woman he said,
“I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.”

Ge 3:17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat of it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat of it
all the days of your life.

Ge 3:18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.

Ge 3:19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”

Ge 3:20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.

Ge 3:21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Yeah – so the war isn’t new.

Are LGBT Issues new?

Uh – no. If you don’t pay attention to the Old Testament, maybe you don’t know that. In case you need them, here are some reminders.

Sodom and Gomorrah

First off, before you click out of this page, I urge you to hang in here with me. You may be surprised at what I have to say.

I assume pretty much everyone’s familiar with Sodom and Gomorrah. If not, please check it out at BibleGateway.com. Some people claim the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah wasn’t about homosexuality at all. That’s not true. Not entirely, anyway. I’ve written about how it was more than that. Part of the reason, as explained in Ezekiel, was things other than homosexuality.

However, based on the overall context of passages referring to Sodom and Gomorrah, homosexuality is no small part of the reason for their destruction. We really need context to put it all together and come up with a valid picture of what happened and why. This picture involves both the Bible and the culture of the time.

Here are the two paragraphs from Ezekiel 16 that are about Sodom, plus the final paragraph, which I believe is really important for us to keep in mind.

An Allegory of Unfaithful Jerusalem

Eze 16:49 “ ‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. 51 Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done. 52 Bear your disgrace, for you have furnished some justification for your sisters. Because your sins were more vile than theirs, they appear more righteous than you. So then, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.

Eze 16:53 “ ‘However, I will restore the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters and of Samaria and her daughters, and your fortunes along with them, 54 so that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all you have done in giving them comfort. 55 And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to what they were before; and you and your daughters will return to what you were before. 56 You would not even mention your sister Sodom in the day of your pride, 57 before your wickedness was uncovered. Even so, you are now scorned by the daughters of Edom and all her neighbors and the daughters of the Philistines—all those around you who despise you. 58 You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your detestable practices, declares the LORD.

Eze 16:59 “ ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant. 60 Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you. 61 Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters, but not on the basis of my covenant with you. 62 So I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD. 63 Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the Sovereign LORD.’ ”

The part I refer to related to Sodom and Gomorrah committing sins other than homosexuality is:

Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

Keep that last paragraph for a moment. We’re returning to it shortly.

The thing is though – homosexuality is one of the detestable things the people did. There’s just no escaping that.

49–50 Sodom’s chief sin had been pride and self-exaltation. This stemmed from her abundant materialism (food), given to her from God (Gen 13:10), which had resulted in false security, apathy, a luxurious life of ease, and the corollary disdain and neglect of the poor and needy (v.49). This material ease fostered sexual perversion (Gen 13:13; 18:20; 19:4–5). This passage stands as both an exhortation and a warning against such wickedness and life styles today. As evil as Sodom was, she did not begin to do evil like Jerusalem. (Jeremiah described how the prophets of Jerusalem committed adultery, lied, and encouraged evildoers so that none turned from their wickedness, just like Sodom [Jer 23:14; cf. 2 Kings 15:37; 16:6; 24:2; 2 Chronicles 28:18–19; Isa 3:9; Ezek 22:15].) If God removed Sodom in judgment, as he did, certainly Jerusalem would receive greater punishment (vv.48, 50; Lam 4:6; cf. Matt 11:23–24).  [1]Alexander, R. H. (1986). Ezekiel. In F. E. Gaebelein (Ed.), The Expositor’s Bible Commentary: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel (Vol. 6, p. 817). Zondervan Publishing House.

Some (many?) Christians (and other religions) view LGBT lifestyles as the word possible sin. And while it is a sin, and God speaks out against it in the Bible, we do see that it’s not the word possible. After all, look at what it says about Jerusalem in Ezekiel’s time. As evil as Sodom was, she did not begin to do evil like Jerusalem.

So – let’s acknowledge that, and proceed.

Since people are familiar with many New Testament passages, I bring in one that’s not so common.

The Sin and Doom of Godless Men

Jude 1:3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. 4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

Jude 1:5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Jude 1:8 In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. 9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals—these are the very things that destroy them.

Jude 1:11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.

Jude 1:12 These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

Jude 1:14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 16 These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

I believe this is very straightforward about the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, and especially about why they were destroyed. At least, I used to think it was straightforward. That changed when I got into the historical context, the culture, and other references in the Bible like Ezekiel. The picture gets rather murky. Unless we take the time to put together all the pieces. Unfortunately, when people have an ax to grind, we don’t often take the time to do much research on whether or not our thoughts, and fears, are valid.

However, when we do take the time, we find that it was a whole bunch of stuff that led the people of Sodom from point A to point B, to point C … to destruction. And it’s only then that we can reach valid conclusions. Even then though, we still have to adjust our hearts and minds to the reality of a situation, as opposed to blindly continuing on our path of, well, for lack of a better word, self-destruction.

Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

As I said – I believe this appears to be straightforward. But, other sins occurred all over the place back then, just as they do now. One thing leads to another. Eventually, things add up to destruction.

Unless. Unless we turn to Jesus. With apologies to Catholics, there is no sin that Jesus’ death on the cross cannot absolve, with the exception of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Having been a Catholic, I know why you believe something else. However, I can no longer support it, due to so much evidence in the Bible that’s contrary to that belief.

However, having said that, I also believe we must each own our own faith. We will believe what we believe. I only encourage everyone to check out what you believe to be sure it’s grounded in the Bible.

speaking of hate … Sodom, Gomorrah, and Godless people

OK – now remember that last paragraph from Ezekiel. Keep hate in mind. and let’s add one more thing. It’s going to be a tough one. Especially for the haters.

Prayer – Matthew

Mt 6:5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Mt 6:9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“ ‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

Mt 6:10 your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Mt 6:11 Give us today our daily bread.

Mt 6:12 Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Mt 6:13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’ 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Ouch! Do you get it?

I’m talking about forgiveness! All Christians (should) know the Lord’s Prayer. But – how many of us know what comes right after the part where we all stop the prayer? Yes – after we stop. I have never been to a church where the Lord’s prayer goes all the way to the end of the passage. Not one.

It kind of doesn’t make sense for the prayer to continue to this verse. It was, after all, a statement of truth from Jesus to each of us. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be aware of it. We absolutely should.

And yet, there it is – 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Like I said – ouch! That hurts.

If we hate people, which we aren’t supposed to do in the first place – how are we ever going to forgive them? Hint: we aren’t!

And that last part is for Democrats who hate Republicans. Republicans who hate LGBTQ people. LGTBQ people who hate Christians. And every other possible combination of those groups. Hatred. And lack of forgiveness. Not good.

A final thought on LGBTQ

I have one final thing on the LGBTQ topic. It’s something I wrote back in 2013. I took some heat for this one. Including some conservative Pastors. But I send the same message of don’t hate and do forgive to people who don’t like it.

The title is simple. LGBT in Heaven? The topic is anything but simple.

I really urge you to read the whole article, but I reached two conclusions. Why two? Because it’s really a two-part issue.

Conclusion 1 is that yes, there will be LGBTQ people in Heaven. But – before you get too excited, either way, I do believe that lifestyle is sinful. The difference for me is that I don’t believe, like many seem to, that it’s an unforgivable sin. That means I also do not believe those lifestyles will be in Heaven. There’s so much evidence that it really is sinful that I can’t see any other conclusion.

Does that mean every LGBTQ person will be in Heaven? I don’t think so. But then, I don’t think everyone who claims to be a Christian, regardless of lifestyle, will be there either.

Here’s an excerpt from the first conclusion:

If you’re still not convinced – and you think the above statements on sinning against God are wrong – think about your own sins. Everyone sins – so there is something. Now ask yourself – why is your sin forgivable – but theirs isn’t? That question really hit home for me – like the ultimate 2×4. And if you come up with a reason – you’re right back to either calling God a liar – or putting yourself above Him.

This can be really hard – I know. If you’re still not convinced – I’m praying for you.

Whatever conclusion you come up with – there is some good news – that hopefully will apply to you. Jesus died to pay for the sins of everyone – everyone who acknowledges Him as God and truly tries to follow Him. Like I said – everyone sins – Christians too. But Jesus will forgive us if we are sincere in our belief about Him and who He said He was. (Not our watered-down version of Jesus – but Jesus’ own version of Himself). If you choose not to accept the statements above – I pray that, if you are a true believer – that He will forgive your sins – just as He would forgive the sins of LGBT people or another true believer. To think that anything else was true – would be to put our own salvation into doubt. Clearly – that’s a message from Satan – not from God.

Conclusion 2 is about people who teach that the LGBTQ lifestyle is acceptable to God. It applies to Christians and non-Christians alike. It’s a passage from James that I think about every time I write or teach a class.

Taming the Tongue

Jas 3:1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

I’m sure that covers me, since I write and teach classes.

But here’s the whole passage. Context matters. And while you’re reading it, think about trying to be the kind of person Jesus commanded us to be, but we’re hating people all the while.

Taming the Tongue

Jas 3:1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

Jas 3:3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

Jas 3:7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

Jas 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Imagine, claiming to be a Christian who loves everyone, but hating so many people. James’ conclusion should be like a shockwave hitting our souls.

However, I feel like, to some extent, that covers pretty much every one of us. People watch us. Whether we try to or not, people learn things from us. The things we do. The way we act. Sometimes, we don’t even notice or think about it. But sometimes, we are well aware of this, and do things expressly for the purpose of having others see what we’re doing. My question is about that last scenario, where we do things to be seen. Are we not, in some respect, acting as a teacher?

Whether that “teacher” label applies to the LGBTQ person who flaunts their lifestyle to be seen – or the Christian who openly hates – it should be a concern to both. Shouldn’t it? Is it, to you?

Conclusion – Is President Biden surrounded by Demonic Hedge of Protection?

If you don’t already know my answer to the question, then I’ve failed miserably. But, to be sure, no – I don’t believe President Biden is surrounded by a Demonic Hedge of Protection. There will be a second part of this article, as mentioned at the top. In it, I’ll explain why I don’t believe that’s even possible. At least not today. Not until we reach the End Times of Revelation.

In any case, here’s my conclusion for the LGBTQ issue, which seems to be at the heart of the statements generating the headline we examined.

I think every one of us needs to constantly remind ourselves of what James said before we open our mouths. I used to have a little sign –

Put brain in gear before engaging mouth

It was a play on driving a stick-shift car. But I think it makes sense today, even if you don’t know what a stick-shift car is.

There’s plenty of sin on all sides of the LGBTQ issues. I don’t think any of them fall into the unforgivable sin category, Although, I do wonder sometimes if repeated refusal to forgive doesn’t fall into the quenching the Holy Spirit realm. That’s if the Holy Spirit keeps prompting us to forgive people, and we keep refusing, aren’t we quenching – putting out – the “fire” of the Holy Spirit in ourselves. If all that’s true, then it is the unforgivable sin.

And wouldn’t that be horribly ironic? An LGBT person who asks Jesus for forgiveness receives it and spends eternity in Heaven. While the Christian who refuses to forgive that very same LGBT person spends eternity in Hell because they refused to forgive.

Everyone I’ve mentioned above really needs to learn about Jesus, from the Bible. Not from your favorite politician. Not even from your favorite Pastor, if the only reason he/she is your favorite is because you like the stand they take on your favorite love-to-hate issue.

By the way, every else not mentioned above also need to learn about Jesus, from the Bible.

And, if you haven’t noticed, I also realize that includes me. We will never learn everything there is to learn about Jesus. But, as was brought out in the very beginning:

Stay tuned for part 2.
And in the meantime, continue to learn about Jesus – as He describes Himself – not as we’d like Him to be. And as we do that, acknowledge our sins before God – and try to go forth and sin no more.
