The Fire is related to the birth and the perpetuation of the human race. People couldn’t survive without the fire. Fire is a source of life, and at the same time emerges as an irreplaceable material for the evolution of human civilization. Due to the think that the fire is an integral part of the historical course of the humans’ life, the myths and the legends associate with it and exude the magic and intensity of this relationship.

Mexico: Tiacuace managed to steal the fire

The legend of Mexico explained that many years ago, there was no fire and people were forced to consume their food raw. Then the Chosen People gathered to discuss how to solve this problem. But unfortunately, they did not find a solution.

Suddenly, looking around, they saw a fire burning in the sky, which disappears behind the mountains. After that, the selected people sent others to find the fire and bring it to them. Five people move towards to the place, where they had seen the fire. But by reaching the place, the fire seemed to be in the opposite direction. They continued disappointingly searching.

Tiacuatse moved elsewhere and found on his way an elderly man sitting in front of a fire. He approached him and told him that the Chosen people sent him to bring water from a river. When the old man slept, Tiacuatse tried to steal the fire but he didn’t achieve it. The old man woke up angrily, and threw Tiacuatse into the fire, and continued to sleep, sure that he killed the unwanted intruder. But Tiacuatse lived. He escaped and he brought the fire to the Selected. Since then, people have never been eating their food raw.

The fire as a gift for the people

In Greek mythology, the fire was donated to humans by Prometheus. For many years, Prometheus was the leader of the people in the war against the Gods.

After the victory of the Gods, Prometheus decided to steal the fire and give it to the people. The Gods were exasperated and they brutally punished him.

God Hephaestus chained him to an inaccessible peak of the Caucasus. Every morning an eagle, ordered by Zeus, ate his liver, which renewed every evening. It was an eternal punishment, demonstrating how important the gift was, which Prometheus gave to the people. The torture of Prometheus ended, when Hercules killed the eagle and freed him from his bonds.

Fire is an invaluable gift, a privilege of inalienable importance for humanity. If the fire had not been discovered, nothing of what we can do with it would exist.
