A man who ‘ripped off a woman’s knickers’ and shoved his fingers down her throat has been jailed.

Adam Hulland was described as a ‘controlling bully’ by a judge after it emerged he had subjected a woman to three attacks – including one outside a city pub.

The court heard that the 26-year-old spat at and punched the woman in the face during an argument outside the Rose and Crown in Chellaston, Derby, Metro Uk reports

He then took off her shoes so she could not run away and, after she reported that incident to the police, he went on to attack her twice more in her own home while on bail.

Those incidents included him placing his hand over her mouth so she struggled to breath.

Hulland, of Ashleigh Drive, Chellaston, also put his fingers down her throat, poked her in the eye and pinned her down on her bed.

Jailing Hulland for 19 months at Derby Crown Court, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: ‘She was your punch bag and no-one else could intervene with that.

‘You took her shoes off and that was an example of your controlling and bullying behaviour.

‘You spat at her twice and punched her twice and you are very lucky that the charge was not a more serious one.

‘Then, while you were on bail for that offence, you commit the other two.

‘You went to her home, put your hand over her mouth and face, poked her in the eye and forced your fingers down her throat.

‘You forced her underwear off and what else you did can almost be classed as sadism.’

Siward James-Moore, prosecuting, said the first incident took place outside the pub on April 28.

He said Hulland took the victim outside the pub as he did not like the way she was talking to his friends. He then assaulted her and removed her shoes so she could not run away.

Hulland was arrested for that and was bailed on the condition that he did not make contact with the woman, who lives in Leicester.

But, on two occasions, May 21 and 29, he went to her address and assaulted her again.

Mr James-Moore said: ‘During one of them he ripped her knickers off and grabbed her breasts, causing her a lot of pain.’

Hulland pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was jailed for 19 months.
