As the countdown to Game of Thrones Season 7 begins, we look at what we might be seeing in 2017.
Game of Thrones Spoilers Ahead:
The sixth season of Game of Thrones brought some heartbreak, some revelations and some classic HBO gore. While the season was panned for its weaker writing style and predictable plot lines, it still remains one of the most exciting properties on TV.
Anticipation for season 7 will be high, and I for one can’t wait to find out what happens in the next Game of Thrones episodes.
For that, however, we’ll have to wait. A long, Thronesless wait.
Ugh…
What we can do, though, is what much of viewing community already does: spin out Game of Thrones theories and wish lists until the show returns to the air and inevitably crushes them all — RIP Cleganebowl.
So what will happen in Game of Thrones season 7? Here are 7 things we might see!
1. Zombor
The death of Hodor was one of the most sobering moments in the series, leaving behind a phrase that will remain in the archives of office banter for years to come.

However, we might not have seen the last of Hodor.
The White Walkers have a habit turning what’s dead into something that’s only kinda dead — what is dead may never die. Hodor was definitely killed by the rabble of Wights, but I’d be surprised if the Night’s King didn’t want a beast like that in his army.
Is this what will happen in Game of Thrones season 7? A a gut-wrenching, heartbreaking moment, where the mighty undead Hodor returns to the small screen? We think so! And, when that happens, I doubt he’ll be holding the door for anyone.
2. The Mad Queen Cersei
The mad king always threatened to ‘burn them all‘, but never actually got round to it.
Cersei on other hand.
With her enemies buried beside her beloved children, there is little in Westeros Queen Cersei will care about besides inflicting pain on those who have crossed her.
Lookin’ at you, Dorne.
Nobody expects Cersei to be a good Queen, nor do we expect that she’ll keep that crown for very long. But, one thing we do expexct to see is Cersei channelling her inner Jeoffrey, causing some real damage from the lofty heights of the Iron Throne.
3. Power Hungry Sansa Stark
To say Sansa has put up with some shit is an understatement, but things are finally going her way. The thing is, will she be content with Winterfell and the North?

After everything she’s seen, after all the hate she’s built up inside, I’d like to see her going too far. I don’t think settling down and living peacefully — at least until the White Walkers arrive — is going to be enough for her, and I relish the opportunity to see Sansa go full on bloodthirsty.
In season 7, I’d love to see her push for total war and control of the Seven Kingdoms. She’s got the numbers, she’s got the wildlings, she’s got Littlefinger and King Jon and she’s got the perfect excuse — that the North is not safe with the White Walkers on the march.
Now Cersei, an evil woman who inflicted so much of pain on Sansa, sits on the Iron Throne.
Sansa made the Boltons pay, is Cersei next?
4. More Littlefinger
Underhanded, mischievous and the most dangerous player in the Game of Thrones, this devious little ladder climber has seen far too little screen time in Season 6.

The plot this year has been focused away from the political intrigue which once dominated the show, but you can’t help but miss the divisive character that is Littlefinger.
His plotting, his games, his lust for power, it’s all so much more interesting than Sam and Gilly faffing about in the North or Tyrion drinking wine with Danny’s cronies.
In the sixth season, we caught little sight of Littlefinger and when we did he was either manipulating an easily swayed Lord of the Vale or getting told off and rejected by Sansa. Not exactly the ruthless Littlefinger we know and love: A character that created a war between two of the most powerful houses in Westeros and began the game of thrones.
In Game of Thrones season 7, I’d love to see Littlefinger take centre stage once more, manipulating the world around him and just generally being a dick.
We catch a glimpse of this Littlefinger in the final moments of season six. There is a lot of speculation about the scene where Sansa, seemingly happy with Jon Snow’s new title of King in the North, looks to Littlefinger and is suddenly overcome with anger or fear. While there are many ideas out there trying to explain this reaction, I think it means she realises that Jon has now entered the game of thrones, putting him right in the path of the most dangerous man in Westeros.
5. The Hound and Arya Reunited
They were Game of Thrones’ very own odd couple. One was a bloodthirsty killer, the other was The Hound.
Their relationship was brilliant, comical and deeply moving. The Hound taught Arya some valuable lessons about people and survival. Arya, in turn, exposed a softer side to the hulking beast, one we had only caught a glimpse of before when he saved Sansa.
With Arya currently cooking the Frey’s and cutting throats in the North, and The Hound heading towards the wall, it’s only a matter of time until they bump into each other.
It’s not exactly going to be a heartwarming reunion as they both run towards each other through a wildflower meadow, but it will certainly be a powerful scene.
6. Danny and Yara
This isn’t some perverse fantasy I’m playing out, I’ll leave that one to the fan-fic writers.
No, I’m talking about a powerhouse couple, with brains, tenacity and some real fucking chemistry.
I don’t know if you noticed that spark between Yara and Danny in episode 9, but I thought it was interesting and genuine. The scene is refreshingly out of character for Daenerys, it’s not often she lets down her stoic demeanour. Unless she’s about to waste some serious slave master-ass, that is.
This isn’t a match that’s going to tame kingdoms, however. While the Ironborn are a troublesome and dangerous house, they are a small one nonetheless. While Daenerys may be looking to wed herself into a larger house — how did that go for you last time, Danny?
…for now, this could be a fun and interesting match.
7. Rise of Ramsay Bolton, True Warden of the North
The treacherous bastard Jon Snow may appear victorious, but don’t discount the mastermind that is Ramsay Bolton just yet.
Yes, it may appear to the untrained eye that Ramsay was eaten alive by dogs, but remember, these are loyal beasts.
Ramsey likely survived this staged attack, waiting for Sansa to leave before making his escape — not before he found and mangled a body to replace his own. Yes, the dogs would have taken bites to make the attack appear real, but these are merely flesh wounds.

Now Ramsay, thought dead to the world, can plot his return to power and ascension to his rightful place, as Warden of the North.
That, or he’s dog chow.

I’d like to point out, this crazy idea didn’t come from me. You can see the hilarious Reddit thread about Ramsay and his epic return in future Game of Thrones episodes here.
