Uppermost releases his latest Album 'Perseverance' today following recent singles 'Atom' ft Birsen and titular track 'Perseverance' ft. Harry Pane. It contains 14 tracks of warm, genre-blending music ideal for dancing to or getting lost in introspective moments.
'Perseverance' is a powerful first track and sets the tone for the rest of the album. Combining atmospheric electronica with Harry Pane's raw vocals is unexpected, but intriguing. The whole piece is very intense, cinematic and builds to a crescendo.
On the latest single with Harry Pane, Uppermost comments: “There are times when you feel that everything is falling apart in your life, this track is a representation of what it looks like. The pain you go through, but also the faith and willpower you get: every negative impulse is an opportunity to create a positive one.”
Other highlights include 'The Brightest Light' with wordless melodic strips of instrumentals bursting with light, 'Slide' ft. Yudimah incorporates rap with crystalline electronica. 'Step By Step' ft (ft. Sôra) has an undeniable groove with tropical house elements and a melodic hook. 'Atoms' is a densely lush song with a psychedelic chillwave vibe and an essence of tropical disco-pop weaving a glittering ribbon of sound. 'Where Your Heart Goes On' ft SYML features burnished synths with vulnerable vocals. 'Late Hours' ft Antony Left integrates eccentric rhythms with delicate electronic components. And we round off with 'Uprising' with a similar aesthetic to the first track in tone at the beginning then builds up and up and feels like the final credits of a Hollywood action Blockbuster.
On the album, Uppermost comments: “I decided to work on this album like it's my last one, putting everything I have to express in it, in the most sincere way I could. I needed to escape from my comfort zone and put myself in a place where I'd be vulnerable again.”
