As if there is any excuse to listen to one of our favourite tracks from 2017, but singer-songwriter Jay Alexzander has just released the visuals for ‘F.W.U’ featuring LK and directed by Nicholas Taghavi. The vibrant music video draws upon celebrating the beauty of African women, as well as a nod to Jay’s Ugandan roots. And it looks like they all had a lot of fun making it too.
‘F.W.U’ is not just dripping with soul and R&B but has some elements of Trap and an experimental incorporation of Jay's North Ugandan native language of ‘Acholi’. Since the single's release, it has had much acclaim from tastemakers and also Smooth Fuego’s RnB Mix for BBC Radio 1Xtra.
Jay says of the song and the visuals coming together, “The vision I had for the song has finally become a reality. Not many people would have known that I was bilingual, but with this single and visual, I’ve been able to show that and celebrate my heritage”.
‘F.W.U’ is just a taste of what Jay Alexzander has planned for his EP set for release later this year. Bring it on.
