Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s secret message

Just like the Nintendo Classic NES, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s secret message taken fans just two days to discover it.

The secret message can be found on the underside of the controller’s right analog stick, and can only be seen when the stick is pushed down.

Beneath the plastic, the makers say: “THX2 ALLGAMEFANS.”

Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s secret message to hackers as well

Nintendo also left a secret message for hackers, who were able to install a range of new ROMS onto the gadget that is in high demand among gamers.

The message was written by an unnamed programmer going by the moniker ‘The Hanafuda Captain,’ which is a reference to the Japanese hanafuda playing cards that Nintendo used to sell before jumping into the gaming industry.

“This is the hanafuda captain speaking. Launching emulation in 3…2…1. Many efforts, tears, and countless hours have been put into this jewel. So please keep this place tidied up and don’t break anything! Cheers, the hanafuda captain,” the message reads in full.

More than just a game controller

Apart from the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s secret message, the controller comes with 30 inbuilt games. Nintendo has said it does not plan to add any more titles in the future, meaning that it is missing some well-known games.

Russian hackers were the first to bypass one of the controller’s biggest problems.

The hackers then managed to add new NES games in January. The hackers achieved the feat through a combination of downloaded software and USB cables.

The games that were added by the hackers include Metal Gear, Battletoads, Bucky O’Hare, Bionic Commando and Mega Man.

However, the process comes loaded with danger, as users run the risk of bricking the console, which renders it unusable.

Even before fans discovered, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s secret message, the gaming company had already outperformed the PS4 when it comes to initial sales.

An industry analyst report predicted that the Nintendo Switch is set to sell a healthy amount of units by the year 2020.

“Demand is expected to be strong, and the major issue will be whether the system can attract a broader audience in the holiday sales season of 2017,” the report stated.

And it would seem the report was accurate, as, in the United Kingdom, the Nintendo Switch sold over 80 thousand units in its first week. That figure is double what the Wii managed in its UK debut.

Some users had complained about dead pixels on the LCD screen, but Nintendo was quick to point out that they are normal and should not be considered a defect.

Zelda has impressed

Switch launch game Zelda: Breath of the Wind recorded impressive sales. When it comes to Zelda games, only the Wii’s Twilight Princess and GameCube’s WindMaker sold more during their respective launch weeks.

In 2004, the company vowed to replace Nintendo DS consoles with dead pixels.

Other companies also embed a secret message in their products

Nintendo is following the well-trodden path by organizations that hide messages on the products and logos.

The ‘G’ and the ‘I’ in the Gillette logo have razor-sharp cuts into the text, representing the company’s main brand, the Gillette shaver.

Broadcaster NBC has a white space in the company logo, which creates a Peacock – representing the company’s status as a broadcaster who is proud.
