Vaginal Care for Every Age

Your body goes through a lot of changes as you age up. It is not just about the body growing out into different sizes. As you age up, a lot of your body parts also get worn out. And your vagina is included in that. Different issues call for different measures. So on each age bracket, your vagina may need a different kind of Vaginal care.

Vaginal Care in your 20s

We can say that a woman in her 20s is on her peak. The same goes with her vagina as well. During this Age Period, your estrogen hormones are at an all-time high. This estrogen is the one responsible for keeping your vagina lubricated, elastic, and acidic. A woman is at her peak because of the libido during her 20s.

So if you are in your 20s and is sexually active, be sure to take precautions. Using condoms could be the first step. Urinating after an intercourse is also a good preventive measure against urinary tract infection.

Vaginal Care in your 30s

The 30s is the age period when most women go through pregnancy. Pregnancy messes up the hormone levels so there could be many different changes that a woman can go through. After giving birth the vagina may lose some of its elasticity and stretch but it won’t stay that way. It will always return to its pre-birth size but you can improve it with Kegel exercises.

During your 30s, you may also think of using contraceptives. These contraceptives may affect your vagina’s discharge and can even make it drier than usual. The 30s is a good time to start having regular visits to the doctor.

Vaginal Care in your 40s

If you know of menopause, this is the age period of when it normally starts. It often starts with your estrogen levels going down, far from the levels you had when you were in your 20s. The effect includes Vaginal Atrophy which can result in different vaginal issues like itching, pain during a sexual intercourse, redness, and a burning sensation while urinating.

Regular sexual activity actually slows down vaginal atrophy to keep it elastic and with increased blood flow. But if it is not possible, there are vaginal moisturizers and supplements that can help you replenish the moisture down there.

Vaginal Care in your 50s

During your 50s, the dreaded perimenopausal stage is often over already. The vaginal atrophy still persists so you should continue what medication worked best during your 40s. Vaginal care in your 50s is now just as important as body care.

You should also focus on maintaining a healthy diet, stopping smoking, watch your weight, and use vaginal lubricants as needed.
