COMMUNITY REVIEW: Vitabrid Dual Mask: Brightening & Luminous

I’ll be honest — even though I work for a skincare blogger and am constantly surrounded by luxury skincare and a wealth of information on how I should be taking care of my skin correctly, I still make mistakes. While I try to take steps to help out my complexion, I still end up sleeping in my makeup some nights (I’m working on it!), over-exfoliating, and picking at blemishes, leaving my complexion looking like I don’t work on my skin at all. Usually, treating my skin poorly leads to dry patches around my nose and chin, uneven skin tone, and just an overall dull “blah” appearance. I should have a youthful glow! I’m in my 20s!

Enter the . This mask “instantly brightens tired and distressed skin for enhanced skin radiance and luminosity. It features Vitabrid® and Peptibrid® technologies which improve the stability and penetration of wrinkle-fighting peptides.” The mask makes promises of making dark spots appear lighter while also adding moisture. Sounds great! But can this $35 mask really brighten my complexion? Let’s take a look.

Vitabrid C12

One of the main ingredients that interested me in the Vitabrid Dual Mask: Brightening & Luminous was the use of Vitabrid CG, the main ingredient in Vitabrid’s C12 products. Vitamin C, as we all know by now, is used on the skin to fight signs of aging like photodamage and wrinkles, as well as hydrate, brighten, and even the complexion. The specially formulated ingredient from Vitabrid claims to be made in a way that “stores and preserves active vitamin C within skin-friendly mineral layer; once it is applied to the skin, it releases active vitamin C continuously for over 12 hours permeating through the skin layers down to the dermis.” Basically, by combining unstable vitamin C that is easily oxidized and less efficient with a stable, skin-friendly mineral, it will create Vitabrid CG to be delivered to the skin. This is a better form of vitamin C that’s more efficient and gentle to brighten as well as promote cell regeneration.

Personal Use and Opinion

I used this mask after my normal cleansing routine using Drunk Elephant’s Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser and toning with Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. The mask itself is soft and heavily saturated in product (which I would prefer if you’re going to spend above $20 for a sheet mask, let’s be real). The instructions say to apply the mask onto clean and toned skin, and leave on for 10-20 minutes, massaging any remaining essence into the skin. I opted for the full 20 minutes and used my jade face roller from Revlon to massage on top of the mask and after removing it. After the 20 minutes, I did have a decent amount of product to rub into my skin and neck (even enough for my chest where I have a lot of sun damage). My skin felt hydrated and soft after absorption, with little residue after massaging the product in. As for the brightening aspect, I would say this mask did its job. I wasn’t expecting my freckles to completely disappear, or suddenly have no dark circles, but overall I did feel like the mask woke my skin up from looking so dull and like I’ve never used a vitamin C serum in my life.

Bottom Line

I’m a fan of this mask! I would definitely use it before a special occasion or a night out, as it did give my complexion that little boost of hydration and glow. It smelled and felt luxurious without completely breaking the bank. If you’re looking for something to give your dull complexion a little extra help, I would absolutely recommend the Vitabrid Dual Mask: Brightening & Luminous!
