8 Awesome Handmade Christmas Gifts
Good Lord; it’s already December! You know what that means?
It means, that as my mom used to say (and still does), “Christmas is right around the corner”. It also means that we’re all most certainly dreading racking our brains for fabulous, but affordable Christmas gifts for family and friends.
I’ve been feeling really ‘crafty’ lately, but the word ‘crafty’ can sometimes be synonymous with ‘useless’ or ‘cheap’. I’m not feelin’ either of those definitions, and I love getting gifts that someone made for me.
So…with that in mind, I set out to find inexpensive, handmade gifts that wouldn’t make me say “What the hell is this?” if I got them
Spa in a Jar
I absolutely adore getting things that help me relax as a gift, any time of the year; bath products, books, candles, you name it. If it’s meant to ‘take the edge off’, I’m in (let’s not forget wine. I’m totally down with wine too).

Handmade Lavender Sachets
If you have even minimal sewing ability, Lavender Sachets are an easy sewing project, and they’re a great, useful idea!
Awesome for drawers and closets, they’ll keep the recipient’s linens smelling great.

Comic Book Coasters
These would make a great gift for the comic book fanatic in your life.
An extension of these might be to use the same instructions, and make coasters for the fashion fanatic; just use fashion publications instead of comic books.

Christmas Crack
I included this in this list, because my sister-in-law makes this stuff every year, and just sets it out on the table for everyone to nibble on. I love it so much, that I requested that it be my actual gift.
It’s white chocolate, M&M’s, pretzels, cheerios (some people add Chex Mix, but my sis-in-law doesn’t).
So last year, she had it out on the table for everyone to nosh on as usual, but when it came time to open gifts, she presented me with my very own, huge tin of Christmas Crack! I didn’t have to share it with anyone! I’ve never been so happy. I think I may have shed a tear! Hah!
Be prepared to fight the addiction. You’ve been warned.

Turn a Sweater into Mittens (Smittens)
This is a super cool idea. How many sweaters do you think you just throw or give away, that you could have made a few cool pairs of mittens from?

Handmade Hand Warmers
These would go perfectly inside those ‘Smittens’ that you made
There’s always one person in every group who’s got cold hands. These are perfect (and inexpensive) to make!
Tea Tin Candles
Not just for tea tins. You could make candles in just about any kind of tin, but tea tins add a little bit of ‘kitsch’ or nostalgia to the gift.
Sweater Sleeve Wine Bottle Gift Bag
This is just….COOL. Nuff said?
