What exactly is a Cosmeceutical and why should you care?

It's the buzzword these days for Ingredients that do more than simply moisture your Skin. In theory, they offer benefits to the skin through a variety of delivery systems. A Serum, for instance, is a delivery system. So is a facial mask (typically with bio-active ingredients added to enhance it). So what kind of ingredients are considered "cosmeceutical"?

Antioxidants
AHA's
Botanicals (derived from plants, stems, roots, fruits, etc)
Peptides
Proteins

If getting more from your skincare product, like skin lightening, strong lipid barrier, younger looking skin is what you're looking for, then look for products that contain these high performers.
