Getting Off To A Good Start

At the beginning of the weekend I’d weighed myself in and was very proud to discover that I was down a whole pound! Woo. Considering how hard it was to get in all my steps and find time to do some exercises I was honestly hoping for more, but a pound is a pound and something to be proud of!

Part of the reason I had any success was that I was finally able to move to some semblance of a proper diet. Instead of using buns when we grilled hamburgers, for instance, I would toss my burger between slices of Romaine Lettuce. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the romaine lettuce bun quite a bit.

I did find that lunches are apparently a major point of contention for me. I have some pre-made soups in the freezer, but even the time it takes to get all the stuff off my freezer (I really don’t understand why there always seems to be stuff piled on top of my freezer, even after just clearing it off), dig out a soup and thaw/heat it in the microwave it just too much. By the time the food is ready to be eaten my son tends to have worked himself into a fit because how dare I not hold him every second of every day.

Usually it’ll get to be 2 or 3 in the afternoon and I’ll realize that I haven’t eaten anything yet for lunch. In these instances I’ll grab a couple of cheese strings and maybe a pepperette so that I can get some form of food into me before my stomach starts threatening me with violence. I recognize that this is definitely not the healthiest thing to do.

Yesterday was also my birthday. Yay me! This means that all my hard work of dieting and exercise over the last week went out the window. I don’t mean that I just nudged it off the ledge. No. I pulled back and hauled it as far as I could throw it. I had Pad Thai for supper yesterday. It was delicious. I have zero regrets.

I am figuring out the whole healthy eating portion of my days though. I recognize that I have a ways to go before I can completely figure out the Exercise Routine, it’s starting to seem like it might involve things such as working my arms out by lifting my son up above me while I’m lying down and using him as extra weight while I walk. I’m probably going to have to figure out an entire exercise routine that involves him in some form or another so he doesn’t feel left out. (P.S. Don’t repeatedly play “Elevator” with a baby after they’ve just eaten. Take my work for it, don’t do it.)

The eating thing seems to be getting rather easy however. I’ve accepted my fate and am trying to find different spices for the “mashed” cauliflower so it doesn’t always taste exactly the same. It’s not bad with just salt and pepper, but two or three days of it in a row can get boring and boring is bad for a diet. Before focusing too hard on the cauliflower issue though, I really have to buckle down on myself and get my lunches figured out.
