To the Women that seem to have forgotten where their rights have come from and where their rights are lacking,
As I read your words, denouncing feminism and distancing yourself from the women that marched on Saturday, I think you may be missing a few things.
To claim that "women already have rights" is a huge misconception. If you honestly believe this "fact", maybe you should take off your white, rich feminism colored sunglasses and face the facts. African American women are paid only 64 cents and Latinas 56 cents to every white man's dollar. The majority of victims of hate violence homicides (72%) in 2013 were transgender women. Every year, around the world, 15 million girls are married before the age of 18, which equivocates to 28 girls every minute. Over 38 million women have been a victim of domestic violence in some point of their life. 98 percent of those physically abusive relationships are financially abusive, meaning their abuser controls the money. Black women experience intimate violence at a 35 percent higher rate than white women. Females ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely to be raped or victims of attempted rape than the general population. 1 in 3 women have been sexually harassed at work. After a divorce, women are far more likely to stay in poverty as compared to men. More than 68% of homeless elderly are women. In the first 2 months of the year of 2015, trans women of color were murdered at a rate of almost 1 death per week. And let's not forget about women who are immigrants and sex workers. Violence against them are at an even higher rate than a cis, white woman. So.. basically when you say women already have rights, you basically mean "Since I have privilege that allows me to live in comfort and without fear, I can turn a blind eye." Sorry, but no. Women do NOT HAVE RIGHTS UNTIL ALL WOMEN HAVE RIGHTS. (btw you don't need a vagina to be a girl :).
Now, you claiming that you don't identify as a victim nor as a second class citizen, only speaks to your confusion as to what feminists really stand for. Feminists are not cry babies complaining when we don't get our way, similar to those actions of a certain cheeto puff that now sits in Obama's chair. Feminists are fighting for our and YOUR rights. We do not enjoy constantly being on edge, defending women when someone makes a disgusting comment about women, or protecting young girls from being harassed by old men, like a certain cheeto puff that is now Predator In Chief. In fact it's exhausting being on defense mode, but others have done it before us and we will continue to do so until the day comes that people stop freaking out when girls say pussy, yet don't even bat an eye when a man says he can grab us by our pussies. Feminists are not for being victims, we are for taking back our power and grabbing back. ;-)
So, hopefully before you speak out of ignorance and, frankly, out of your white privilege ass, you will pause and refrain. Too many women have fought for your right to vote and the right to not be labeled as property, for you to refuse feminism. And too many women are still currently fighting for your rights.
