The Bulls Head Meriden Review

I'm quite lucky to live in Warwickshire where there are lots of wonderful pubs to eat and drink at, but occasionally you can get bored of going to the same place all the time and want to try somewhere new and different. The quaint Country Pub The Bulls Head is nestled in the small village of Meriden which is located between Solihull and Coventry and is officially the centre of EnglandLuckily for me they asked if I wanted to see a preview of their new makeover before they reopened and try their three course menu too... Of course I jumped at the chance and I was not disappointed!

Upon arrival at The Bulls Head, we received a very warm welcome from the manager and staff who gave us a tour of the newly refurbished pub which had a more premium feel than many other pubs I have visited. Having never been before I was not able to compare it to how it looked previously but I was amazed at the size of the place. It wasn't long before my eyes were drawn to the gins at the bar, being a recently converted gin drinker I wanted to try something sweet so a citrus gin was the best one to go for! And I can highly recommend it!

Interiors Makeover

The pub reflected its countryside roots well with a decadent but homely feel. With
a warming, autumnal colour palette focusing on golds, greens, browns and burgundy shades plus the welcome addition of marble (a blogger fave) and floral patterns on furniture, walls and art.

I could see from the stylish interiors that the designers had really thought about the final touches with a range of unique modern lighting, pretty flowers, colourful cushions, mirrors and vases bringing this beautiful restaurant together.
I particularly loved the rustic charm of the exposed brick fireplace which I'm sure will be a big hit when it's cold outside!

This country pub also has 13 beautifully designed bedrooms which have also had a makeover and you can book here.

Starters

Once I stopped being engrossed with the interiors it was onto the all important tasting of the menu. We were seated to our table by the lovely Vicky who helped us with the menu and asked us to choose whatever we fancied, for the starter I opted for the S
alt and Pepper Szechuan Squid because it's my favourite and Blake chose the Chargrilled Lamb Koftas. We both really enjoyed our starters, mine was such a good size I almost felt full!

Mains

For main there was plenty of choice including stone fired pizza, a range of steak, gourmet burgers, and lots of fresh fish but I wanted to go for my favourite piece of meat and that is lamb. I had the Roasted Rack of Lamb medium well and it was so tender I was in my element. It was served with aubergine, roasted sweet peppers, potato dauphinoise, and Red Wine Jus which was equally delicious.

Blake had the Roasted Pork Belly with Seared Scallops which he kindly let me try as I was just as jealous of his dinner as he was of mine. His was also served with potato dauphinoise, but added butternut squash purée, green beans, toasted almonds, crackling and red Wine Jus. We also ordered a side of twice-cooked chunky chips as you can always judge a pub by its chips!

Desserts

They say save the best until last and the Bulls Head certainly did! I eagerly chose the Melting Chocolate & Peanut Bomb because I've seen these melting chocolate desserts but never tried one for myself! The inside was also filled with sticky toffee pudding and peanut butter cream. And yes it tasted amazing as it sounds!

Blake had less options for dessert being ceoliac, but he was able to have the Vanilla Creme Brulee which he loved!

We had a lovely date night at The Bulls Head & hope to come back very soon. They officially opened on Saturday 13th October so pop in if you're around Meriden!
