It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we want to take you on a Tour of Christmas in the top three cities in the world – and where better to start than London, the home of Voodoo Vixen HQ!
Here at VV we are always looking for a bit of culture! We start our tour in Knightsbridge. Known for and housing a number of London’s best-known museums, you will find the Victoria and Albert museum; this year’s festive installation is the Singing Tree!
The creator behind this treat is set designer, Es Devlin. She has previously worked with the likes of Beyonce and collaborated with the Royal Opera House. The tree involves its’ visitors as words are collected by the public and made into an audio-visual carol which lights up the tree. Christmas is about bringing people together and this tree joins the voices of London to create something wonderfully-festive! Best of all, this installation is free to visit. Carrying on the theme of sound, the V&A are also holding a Sing-a-long of Christmas No 1s on Sunday 7th December (tickets start from £8), so get practising your Do Re Mi! The V&A is one of the best museums in the world and there are so many reasons to visit this wonderful place that will keep you entertained for hours – it’s a London must-see any time of the year!
Next we are off to see a Pantomime in Vauxhall. Panto is an English Christmas tradition that always seems to confuse the rest of the world but classic lines such as ‘He’s Behind You’ never get old – in fact they’ve been welcomed into the 21st century at the UK’s only full-time professional LGBT theatre, Above the Stag. This venue reinvents the idea of a family friendly pantomime by creating something strictly adult-only. WARNING: If you’re off to spectate this one-of-a-kind delight, don’t forget your sense of humour!
Prepare for your cheeks to blush and your sides to split whilst indulging in this outrageous production, as Above the Stag never fail to impress with their quick-wit. This year’s production is Snow White, Rotten to the Core and it is sure to eradicate any innocent memories of the Seven Dwarfs you held dear from childhood! it’s an intimate venue that doesn’t shy any from anything and a great asset to London. This theatre has definitely increased in popularity since opening its’ doors in 2008 and has been raising money to move to a bigger venue to keep up with demand (you can donate here). We have our fingers crossed for this bold and brilliant venue!
Ever fancied chilling in a cosy igloo (oxymoron, yay!) with a cocktail whilst overlooking the Thames? If so, get your skates on and head to Coppa Club!
You and up to 7 of your friends could be wining and dining in these beautifully furnished and heated igloos with spectacular views of everyone’s favourite London bridge – Tower Bridge. The igloo experience has been immensely popular and although there are walk-in options, booking is recommended if you want a chance of some igloo-indulgence. Coppa Club have started a real dome frenzy and now other venues are jumping on the bandwagon; Winterville in Fulham, Jimmy’s Lodge along South Bank and The Sipping Room in West India Quay are also housing their own igloo dining. Plenty of chances to create FOMO amongst your followers!
We’re sick of waiting for our Hogwarts acceptance letters so we’re off to ask Dumbledore directly. Whilst we’re there we might aswell indulge in the magnificent sights at the Warner Bros Studio Harry Potter tour…
To set the scene for the Christmas season the Hogwarts model will be covered in a blanket of snow and the Great Hall will be decorated for the Yule Ball. Many of the other famous sets such as the Gryffindor dorm rooms will also have an extra element of magic with beautiful displays of snow and trees. Members of Voodoo Vixen HQ who would rather remain anonymous have admitted to shedding a tear or two during this tour! If you were lucky enough to grab tickets to the sell-out dinner in the Grand Hall we couldn’t be more jealous! There are also plenty of Christmas decorations and gift options to be found in the gift shop.
If you’re looking for a way to work off all those mince pies tag along for the Christmas Lights Bike Tour! Your guide will take you around London’s best Christmas lights whilst playing traditional carols and xmas songs on their boombox! The tour begins at South Bank and rides through Oxford Street, Carnaby Street and many other brilliant areas.
The Christmas Light Bike Tour offers a fun alternative activity for you and a group of friends. The bike is even provided for the tour. A helmet is option, but the Santa hat is compulsory! The tour guides also allow plenty of times for photographs. The tour lasts three hours so you definitely get your money’s worth too.
