China Glaze Towel Boy Toy Nail Polish Review

China Glaze is one of those brands that seems to have a cult following, I hear a lot of bloggers rave about the polishes but I have to be honest, I don’t get the hype. Despite this I was given the shade Towel Boy Toy from a friend and I decided to give the brand another chance, here’s my thoughts on this Polish.

Starting with the packaging and I think it’s quite nice, China Glaze have opted for rounded bottles with a large lid and you can clearly see the colour of the polish. I’m not sure how much this retailed for but it is still available on Nail Direct for £4.95, this polish was part of the Poolside Collection.

Looking at the brush this is quite a thin flimsy brush and I do now prefer the fatter wider brushes. The colour of the polish is really nice however, I’m a huge fan of blue shades so I was really excited to wear this especially now that it’s summer so I can crack out the bright shades!

Unfortunately the packaging, price and colour is where the positivity ends for this polish. This is a one coat of the polish and the colour is very pale. My camera hasn’t quite picked this up but the polish is incredibly sheer to the point where the first few coats look like you have stained blue nails rather than you are wearing polish. It actually reminds me of when you wear a polish and remove it and it leaves behind an awful tinge. I ended up using three plus coats to get this to full opacity.

A;though the finish is nice, a bold blue with microshimmer, the amount of coats needed meant that this took ages to dry, even when blobbing this on I still had sheer patches like on my middle nail towards the bottom which I really hated.

Not only was I left with a rather patchy looking finish but this chipped very quickly and the polish also just slid off of my nails. All in all I had a bad experience and this seems to be a theme with China Glaze for me, I’ve tried various polishes but they are always very watery formulas that chip quickly and look very sheer which is a shame because they have some stunning colours in their collections.

Overall, I’m not a fan and I am disappointed that a brand can keep churning out products but can’t revisit the formula, personally I would not recommend China Glaze polishes and I wouldn’t repurchase. I think that Barry M Nail Polishes are not only nicer but cheaper as well for better quality.

The China Glaze Towel Boy Toy Nail Polish is available from Nail Polish Direct for £4.95.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you did please hit the like button. I am also curious to know if you have tried any China Glaze polishes and what your experiences were? I find them to be very overrated.
