REVIEW: MUA Matte Foundation

So on my shopping spree, I recently purchaced MUA's (Makeup Academy) Professional Matte Foundation in Shade 1, Soft Sand. This liquid foundation claims to be a "Velvet Smooth Long-Lasting Finish" foundation.

So as you can see, the product comes in a flexible, long, thin tube with a screw on lid. I like the packaging as its not bulkey and not heavy like many foundations that come in a glass/plasic bottle. I also love the fact that for £4 you get 30ml of product! Not bad! Especially since I purchased mine during Superdrug's "3 for 2 on all cosmetics" deal. Now the product itself is unfortunately not 'my thing' If your looking for a really thick, full coverage foundation then this is for you! However, I personally like my foundation to be more runny. The only way I could wear this was mixed with a moisturiser to thin it out. Then it did apply very nicely and smoothly, even without a primer. Another downside though was that even though I purchased the lightest shade, it was still too dark and had to much of an orange undertone for my fair, pink undertone skin. That said, anyone with a normal skin tone may be able to enjoy this product! I'm going to save it for Easter, when I go on holiday and should come back looking a bit browner! Here are some swatches on my hand of the product and how it looks blended out.
Now my final gripe with this product is that even though it boasts a "matte finish" I found it couldn't be more wrong! Now, I am not usually the type to go for a completely matte finish, I prefer something that leaves my skin with a bit of a glow, a dewiness, but some days I do crave that matte porcelain look. This foundation, however, is not matte at all! In fact it leaves my skin with my desired glowing, dewy finish! I would suggest that MUA change there packaging to accommodate for this because the market for the more natural finish foundation is growing. especially approaching the summer, and it is unusual to find such a finish on a cheap, drugstore product instead of a high end, more expensive one! If you prefer a matte finish, it can be easily achieved with the help of a powder. I would use my Rimmle "Stay Matte" Powder foundation in translucent.
Comment bellow what you think if you have this MUA product, or what your favourite MUA product is. I love MUA, so expect some more reviews on the way! Will hopefully be uploading a look tomorrow to break up all these reviews, so make sure to follow this blog to see it! :)
