No, you are not seeing double – this season, we have teamed up with Japanese pop star sisters Ami (@amixxamiaya) and Aya Suzuki (@ayaxxamiaya) – also known as AMIAYA – to showcase the latest range of accessories from our Fall 2019 collection. Unmistakable with their bright bubblegum pink hair, the identical twins are always dressing to set themselves apart. The inimitable way of dressing is shaped by the influence of Harajuku style, and now driven by their determination to become global Fashion icons.
Their popular Instagram feeds are followed by over 400,000 fans, and street style photos of them are frequently spotted on well-known fashion websites – their rocketing fame and influence are irrefutable. Captivated by their bold, colorful and utterly unique personal styles, we invited the stylish siblings to style key items from our Fall 2019 collection, including the houndstooth print saddle bag and pointed-toe calf boots.
We also chatted with the duo about twin connection and their future in fashion.

We love your matching pink hairstyles and outfits! Do you think there are any differences in your personal styles?
Ami:
Our tastes are very similar, but at the same time, we each have our own individuality. Because our style is so similar, when we are together, it intensifies our originality as a pair. We fight a lot over outfits because our tastes are so similar and we often want to wear the same things!
Aya:
Our values in fashion are the same but we each like different things. When we are asked to style the same item separately, that is when our individuality really shines through. A lot of the time, my style is more girly while Ami’s is more laidback. With that said, there will always be a twin connection between us, which I find amusing too.

As women who wear different hats – models, DJs, creative directors and business owners of a fashion brand – which is your favorite role to play and why?
Ami:
I love every role. I believe that my originality stems from the various experiences that I have accumulated. All these roles shape who I am today and I believe in the importance to keep on keeping on.
Aya:
They are all equally important because each role contributes to AMIAYA’s style in one way or another. However, all these roles are built on fashion as we believe it is an important tool for self-expression. We want to show the joy of fashion through our activities.
What are some of your favorite pieces from our Fall 2019 collection? Are there any designs that you see yourselves wearing all through the season?
Ami:
I love the entire houndstooth range! I enjoy mixing unique shapes, patterns and colors and had a great time styling this look. Tinted Sunglasses that add a splash of glamour are something I will wear often throughout the season.
Aya:
“Colour” is a keyword in our stylebook – we simply cannot live without it. I always try to incorporate colors that lift my mood into my outfits.

You have separate Instagram accounts, but most of the photos you post feature the both of you. How do you decide who gets to post which photo on her personal account?
Ami:
It is entirely up to each of us to post whatever we want, whenever we want. However, some posts involve work so they are inevitably the same.
We started out with separate accounts so it seems only natural to keep it that way. Having our own accounts also means that we get to express ourselves freely. Ultimately, we have different tastes and personalities, and we want to showcase that individuality through our content.
Aya:
We post what we want when we want to. Of course, we put up many photos of the two of us but we also have personal accounts to freely express our unique personalities. We respect each other and thought it would be fun to have our own platforms for individual free expression, rather than share one account.
Both of you are taking the fashion world by storm. Are there any interesting upcoming projects that you are excited about? And what do you hope to accomplish in the next few years?
Ami:
Yes, we have some upcoming projects that we are excited about and want to share them with you. Although our activities are mostly based in Japan, we have been getting more overseas opportunities over the past year and we want to build an international career out of it. Our goal is to be acknowledged as global fashion icons.
The importance of embracing your individuality and freely enjoying fashion, the splendour of disregarding rules and being faithful to your style – these are the messages that we hope to deliver through our activities. Through fashion, we hope to deliver happiness.
Aya:
We want to keep delivering styles that only we can create. We want to be the one and only. We want to build on our originality by mixing our style – which was developed in Harajuku – with inspiration that we have gathered from travelling abroad. Through sheer creativity, Ami and I want to become people who can inspire.
Our goal is to become global fashion icons who represent Japan. I know that paving the way is difficult, but we hope our originality will turn us into icons that are desired by fashion scenes around the world. AMIAYA will keep delivering more and more to the world through our iconic presence and love for fashion.
