5 things you have to do in Florence

Bella Italia – the name says it already. A beautiful country with many beautiful cities. I summarized in a short review of the  5 things you have to do in Florence.

Almost a month has passed since we were in Florence. At the moment, time is racing. Although I must confess that in the past few weeks I spent more time in the lake in this heat than in front of the laptop. Therefore, this post is also a little late.

We traveled to Florence for a total of 3 days. The occasion was a wedding of my boyfriend’s cousin. The wedding took place near Florence, so we decided to arrive a day earlier to visit this beautiful city in Tuscany.

We descended in an Air Bnb in the middle of Florence. It was small and cute but due to the 35 degrees in the city, it was pretty hot on the top floor of the building. Thanks to the owner of our Air BnB, we got the best addresses you can not miss in Florence.

Lunch at Osteria Nuvoli – a typical Italian trattoria near the Duomo. A place where almost only locals run. At first glance, the restaurant is not apparent. At second glance, it also does not seem inviting. It is very narrow and it fit a maximum of 5 people in the location. In the back, there is a staircase that goes into a cellar. In the basement, there are about 40 seats and the decor is as it is in a storybook. Rustic, dark, decorated with countless wine bottles and the food is superb at a very reasonable price.

Dinner we had it in a pizzeria called Tamerò. The industrial-style eatery looks very stylish and serves delicious pizzas.

In addition to the good food stood on our sightseeing program the famous Duomo. We were not in the building, because due to the long waiting time outside. And honestly, I was not tempted to go into the cathedral. It is also fine for me just to see it from the outside All around the square there are many pretty coffee houses. I recommend visiting a coffee house on the side street. It is not so touristy and you get the same coffee for half of the price.

Next, to the cathedral, there is the famous bridge Ponte Vecchio. It is one of the few remaining bridges in the world, which is built on houses.

Then there’s the Mercato Centrale. A huge market hall built on two floors with many delicious specialties and the best coffee from Florence.

For a city trip in Italy is a matching dress, on one hand, fits the style of Florence and is airy and light, since the temperatures were 35 degrees. These comfortable sneakers and a bag that has enough space for a camera, wallet, sunglasses, sunscreen, handkerchiefs and a small Necessaire.
