WHY JEAN JACKET OUTFITS ROCK MY SUMMER

Denim jackets are one of my favourite pieces of outerwear. There is no need to say that a Denim Jacket is a wardrobe staple. They are iconic and versatile, I wear them with dresses, skirts, jumpsuits and even with jeans to create a total denim look. The styling possibilities to create interesting jean jacket outfits are endless! You can dress your denim jacket down for a casual look or dress it up for more formal events. They are perfect to cover up in the summer evenings. Fashion designers also love denim jackets and they often form part of their new collections. The below piece is from Jamie Wei Huang‘s Autumn Winter 2018 collection and the photo was taken by me sitting in the front row at their London Fashion Week catwalk show in February. Not showing off at all, just saying!

THE ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF THE DENIM JACKET

The first denim jacket was created around 1880 by denim legend Levi Strauss. Denim jackets were ideal for labourers due to their incredible durability.

The denim jacket has evolved since then and has become America’s favourite outerwear. From James Dean’s iconic denim jacket in ‘Rebel without a cause’ in the 1950s to modern deconstructed versions, jean jacket outfits express individuality and are simply cool.

With so many different styles to choose from, we are truly spoilt for choice. Everyone can find a denim jacket to suit their taste, compliment their body shape and express their personal style. I remember when I was a teenager I liked my denim jackets to be cropped and tiny. How things have changed as I am now obsessed with oversized denim jackets; the more oversized the better! I keep thinking I have found the best oversized fit but then I usually come across someone wearing a bigger denim jacket on Instagram and I instantly want it! I also like my oversized denim jackets to be distressed, it gives them that worn-in vibe and makes them so much more interesting.

OVERSIZED DENIM JACKET

Why do I love oversized denim jackets? They are classic and timeless, they will never go out of fashion and they go with absolutely everything. Oversized denim jackets are not seasonal, you can wear them all year round as they will event fit over your chunky knit. They will also fit you forever, even if you happen to overindulge on pizza and cake!

As I love wearing denim jackets, you would often see me running around London in one of the jean jacket outfits. My denim jacket look featured in this post has an obvious summer vibe. The denim jacket is of course oversized and slightly distressed. I love the light-wash blue colour! I styled my jean jacket with a light and delicate lace trimmed summer dress and a pair of flat sandals with floral beaded detail. A large straw bag is a must have accessory of this season and it goes great with this look. It’s large enough to fit in my camera, chargers, makeup, purse, tissues, a bottle of water and my bamboo and silk hand fan. The last two pieces are absolutely necessary if you are planning to use the London Underground any time soon, there is no air conditioning and the heat is unbearable! NEW BLOG SCHEDULE

As you have probably noticed, I have been less active on my blog recently. To be completely honest, I have been struggling to keep up with all my commitments like doing photo shoots, editing photos, writing blog posts, going to events, managing my social media, Instagram collaborations, replying to emails etc. During the week I have been busy attending various events in London and this is something I really enjoy. It allows me to meet new people and build relationships with brands and PR companies. As it’s been shockingly hot in London recently, I have been spending my weekends in the countryside, sunbathing and swimming in a river.

I feel I need to put some structure into my blogging and therefore I have decided that from now on I will be publishing a new post once a week, on a Tuesday. This will allow me to put more effort into my posts and I have always worked more efficiently when I had a specific deadline.
