A new Color trend is named every by the color institute Pantone . Therefore 2018 is no different .In fact nobody knows more about naming a color trend than the experts at the Patone color institute .

The Pantone Color Institute is a consulting service. Moreover Pantone forecasts global color trends and advises companies on color in brand identity. In fact Pantone is recognized around the world as a leading source of color information.In particular they make seasonal trend forecasts. Equally important the Pantone Color Institute partners with global brands. Helping them to leverage the power, psychology and emotion of color in their design strategy.

So what shade will be coloring our world—from scarves to cocktail dresses to bridesmaid gowns—in 2018? Pantone says: Ultra Violet.

NEW COLOR TREND: ULTRA VIOLET

"The new color trend is a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet. This new color trend communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future,” the Pantone team says.

"Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos.The intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now,” they add. “The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”

In other words the new color trend is mysterious. While I have studied color theory at University, I still rely predominantly on instinct . Therefore I'm not at all surprised at the choice of this brilliant purple being the new color trend. 

NEW COLOR TREND; A PURPLE HAZE

Notably enigmatic purples have long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of Western pop culture. Moreover if you are walking through the Purple Haze or dancing in the Purple Rain, this new color trend talks to the nonconformist in us.  

In my opinion the purple haze also has opened the fashion world to a world of purple hues. Therefore  this spring /summer expect to see shades of lavender and mauve under the Purple Rain Umbrella .

ULTRA VIOLET NAMED COLOR OF THE YEAR

In conclusion darlings I'm excited by the naming of Ultra Violet by Pantone as the color of the year. In addition to my excitement , I find this color to be both amazing and daring. First I find it amazing because this is such a bold bright color, usually these color choices are much more muted. For example the rose quartz of 2016 or the greenery of 2017. Second because it is a daring color, a color that a person takes a risk  wearing. Although this may be risky the first time it is a color that has great reward. Hence Ultra Violet and hues of lighter purples ,mauves and lavanders are a new experiment for many but they are rich, beautiful tones that almost all people can wear. Of course these are the color's of royalty going as far back as the Roman Empire. Moreover I love these deep brilliant jewel tones!
