Each year, the Pantone Color Institute selects the “Color of the Year,” working with a secret committee of representatives from different nations to select a color that best represents the emotions and attitudes of the year.

For 2018, the representatives selected Ultra Violet, a blue-purple that is said to represent the “mysteries of the cosmos” and “visionary thinking.”
