Since the last post I've been thinking about what themes could be applied into the design of a Movie. Okay, there's always the ever and somewhat over popular Anime Theme although I'm a bigger fan of even darker subject matter. The movie should be endlessly gritty, almost horror film like, without the jumps and frights.
The 'steampunk' genre is attractive but once again overused. Okay, I've got it, as I was rambling away to myself something just clicked. A new take on the future. What if we crossed Metro city (Robocop's base city) with a little Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and mixed in AI (Artficial Intellegence) for good messure?
Concept not new enough, well this is where it gets interesting. It's all set in Edinburgh, spoken in Edinburgh accents. Characters such as Burke and Hare, Deacon Brody and the likes appear in a futurist style. Wealthy corporate skyscraper owner is John Knox the owner of a familiar Edinburgh based banking corporation.
The streets of 'The Grassmarket' are reborn as crack and prostitution infested sesspits. In other words, take Edinburgh circa 800 - 400 years ago and add in all the evils that the future could hold.
okay, maybe the medication needs to be doubled
