Adieu, Hominy Grits

All good things must come to an end. After much thought over the past couple of months, I've decided to bring Hominy Grits to a close, and continue my blogging activities in a new [virtual] space.

I started Hominy Grits in 2003, bored and stressed at a thankless job in what I referred to then as the "Coal Mine" (mainly in order to protect the innocent, as well as the guilty).

Brand confusion commenced immediately!

Starting the blog was unpremeditated.  In other words, I didn't have a clue as to what I was getting myself into!  I needed a name and faced with that empty input box, "hominy grits" was the first thing that popped into my head.

I like grits, but my blog was never really ever about foodstuffs. (Did you ever pause to consider how phony and dreadful the word "foodstuffs" is?).

So I'm refocusing my blogging efforts, and hopefully re-energizing them, with a new self-hosted WordPress blog, titled "The Eye of Artist | John Azelvandre Art Notes" where I will blog about my art, the art of others, and sundry other art-related, art-inspiring things.  After all, this is really what I've focused on here for several years.

I'm also hoping I haven't jumped on the WordPress bandwagon too late, and that WP platform will provide a more robust, more flexible and more useful experience for writer and reader alike.

I'll keep Hominy Grits up for a while, for historical interest, so you can peruse at your leisure certain classic posts from my mining days, such as this one.

Be sure to head over to the NEW BLOG, bookmark it, share it, read it, follow it.

Happy New Year! Let's make it a great one!
