Elevenses - Working Cocker Spaniel Painting

Elevenses - Working Cocker Spaniel Painting

After fine morning on the hill and the partridge drive on a Sporting estate Speyside, Scotland. We stopped for elevenses in the barn and now the moment is record for posterity.

The Cocker Spaniel

The English Cocker Spaniel is a breed of gun dog. The English Cocker Spaniel is an active, good-natured, sporting dog standing well up at the withers and compactly built. There are "field" or "working" cockers and "show" cockers. It is one of several varieties of spaniel and somewhat resembles its American cousin, the American Cocker Spaniel, although it is closer to the working-dog form of the Field Spaniel and the English Springer Spaniel.

Tim Niall-Harris - Sporting Gun Dogs Art Projects - Highlands & Speyside, Scotland

Working on a wide range of sporting and working gun dog art commissions for private clients in the studio. Each year work revolves around painting in the art studio and time spent in the field with clients working their gun dogs, picking up and retrieving on shoots. Having said that some of the dogs featured in paintings are just at home by the fire after a busy day.

Working with a mixture of mediums. Classic oil, watercolour and acrylic, deeply connected to the wild places of the UK. The art studio can be found in the Highlands of Scotland.

Currently working on paintings of working dogs in the field and on the hill. Including Spaniels, Labradors, Pointers, Terriers and Retrievers.
