Road to EGX 2018: The Journey Begins

EGX 2018 is nearly upon us. Over the last few years, I have ventured to EGX. My first experience was great fun. I bought an overly expensive train ticket down to London and battled the underground spent most of the day exploring as many gaming booths as I possibly could.

The following year the main EGX event moved to its new home at the NEC in Birmingham. This is great for me and most other people in the UK as it’s more central to get to.

Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony all had their respective areas in the halls alongside other developers large and small.

Last year, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo were all in attendance, all making an effort to wow the crowds at the event. Sony were pushing their exclusives, PSVR and PS4 Pro, Microsoft was pushing the Xbox One X and showing off games in native 4K and Nintendo was everywhere with their Nintendo Switch hybrid console.

Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo, who will have the largest Presence?

Let’s hope the big three are all in attendance at EGX 2018. They really don’t have an excuse not to try this year what with the Xbox One X and the Nintendo Switch now out in the wild. Fingers crossed it will be all about games, games and more games.

EGX 2018 promises to be bigger and better than ever with more floor space taken up than any year before. There’s going to cosplay competitions, esports, and the Rezzed area, where I normally end up spending most of my time, purely because I get to try out more games there.

Other areas include the Leftfield collection, a spread of off the wall titles, the retro zone, one of my favourite areas and one of the busiest areas of the whole event and the market area where you can grab all over your over-priced merchandise.
