Fortnite Battle Royal Development Update #3

Progression

  • As you play matches, you get experience. This experience is used to level up, and at key level, you will get rewards.

Sensitivity

  • We want to make sure that our defaults have the best possible experience for you. We recognize that this has a big impact and we really want to minimize this going forward.

Combat Pro (Control) Configuration

  • We just added the combat pro control scheme for console players; it’s in the settings menu. It’s not enabled by default so you’ll want to go in there and give it a try – just switch to combat Pro. We’re really looking for feedback on this.
  • It does change a few things, like how you switch weapons, how you build. It’s intended to make things a little bit more streamlined so when you’re in the heat of battle, you can make quick changes. We’re hoping to make this the default down the road, so please let us know your experience with it and if you like it.

Leaderboards

  • We’re not sure [if we’re gonna make leaderboards global.] Leaderboards are something that we really wanted to get out right away. Stats are a huge opportunity for us, and we’re really excited about the potential here.

Traps

  • We’re working on some prototypes [for traps,] right now, we think the biggest issue with traps is their usability; it just takes too many steps to place them. we’re working on some improvements for speeding that process up, and as we have more details we’ll share

Maps

  • Our priority right now is to fill out the current map that we have; We’re adding more points of interest. We really want people to be able to land in areas without too much contention – not having hordes and hordes of other people right next to you – spread people out a little bit. And adding more points of interest will allow us to do that.
  • We may also increase the size of the island slightly, keyword “slightly,” we don’t want to change what’s really working about the pace of our gameplay, and we feel the current island size is pretty close.
