Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to cook up something delicious for your loved one. Investing your time and effort into cooking a Dinner can be a lovely romantic way to show your love and affection. Plus, having dinner at home means you can set the mood in your own way and it’ll be a more intimate occasion compared to having dinner out. You could even be a little creative with where you have dinner – perhaps you could pack a picnic and go somewhere with a view. Whatever you choose to do we thought we’d help out those living a #lifewithoutmeat by listing three dinner date ideas with Pescatarian and vegetarian options…

Dinner Date Idea 1:

Do you remember the famous Disney Lady and The Tramp Belle Notte scene? An article like this wouldn’t be complete without some spaghetti dishes! Italian recipes can be so simple to cook and the flavours rarely fail to impress the taste buds so they can be a great go-to for a Valentine’s Day dinner date.  For those on a Pescatarian diet, we have our gorgeous Tomato & Fresh Basil King Prawn Spaghetti – simple, healthy and extremely tasty. Alternatively, we have our meat-free Vegetarian Spaghetti Bolognese which uses authentic ingredients and a generous splash of red wine in the recipe. Both spaghetti dishes offer great flavour and can be served with a sprig of fresh basil and sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.

Chocolate is often known to have the ‘feel-good’ factor because it contains phenylethylamine which is the same chemical that’s released in the brain when we fall in love – all the more reason to have some for pudding. Check out our Chocolate Orange Beetroot Brownie recipe – a deliciously gooey and melt-in-your mouth dessert which would go great with the spaghetti dishes above.

Dinner Date Idea 2:

Perhaps you want to cook up a gorgeous curry. Creamy and packed full of aromatic spice and sweet flavour, our Tandoori & Coconut King Prawn Curry will be a perfect Pescatarian option. This can easily be made vegetarian too. Served with a refreshing salad dressing and side of crunchy poppadum’s and naan bread, this will definitely go down a treat with your date. For those of you who love Thai food, we have our vegetarian Butternut Squash & Courgette Thai Red Curry. This curry is mostly smooth and creamy with subtle kicks of spice; and the desiccated coconut adds some inviting texture.

Fruity and refreshing desserts often compliment curries well as they cleanse and refresh the palate. Therefore, pairing these mains with a fresh fruity sorbet would be perfect. Find the recipe for these Mango, lime & coconut sundaes here. Our Black Forest Marble Meringues could do the trick too. However, you will want to use only a quarter of the recipe for two people and you could pipe the meringues in heart shapes instead of circles!

Dinner Date Idea 3:

For something more simple, what about classic fish and chips or pizza? We’ve got our homemade Black Pepper & Coriander Fish Finger recipe which would go great with some homemade potato wedges and a side of peas or salad. Our fish fingers have fiery undertones and are gorgeous drizzled in fresh lemon juice. Presenting two portions nicely with some sides of potato wedges, salads, and sauces on a sharing platter would be a really nice idea. That way you could both just dig in for a more relaxed dining experience. Another recipe which is great for a sharing platter is our Margherita Puff Pastry Pizza which would make a nice antipasti center piece and you could even cut the pastry into a heart shape.

For dessert, you could try our Mini Banoffee Pots which are simple to make, super cute and very delicious.

So there’s our 3 dinner date ideas for you to ponder over and get some inspiration from. Whatever you choose to do, we hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day spent with that special someone.
