Shutter Island

Going into the cinema to see this Film I didn't really know what to expect after seeing the trailer, a big name Director and leading Actor but was this some odd horror film or a very clever psychological thriller? It was described as a psychological thriller and this is exactly what is it was, and it delivered.

Opening on a ferry you are immediately drawn in and captured by the story, beginning to fall in to the ever deepening web of twists and turns that is Shutter Island. Questions continue to be asked of both the audience and characters and as the film develops you can't help but get more and more involved and even feel apart of the story.

Shutter Island at nearly 2 hours 20 minutes long does not at any point leave you wanting to leave or wishing it would be shorter. All aspects of the film are essential to the story and after it has finished it leaves you speechless. If your looking for a thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, that also leaves you questioning even your own beliefs in what you think you understand ... This is that film.

I'd give Shutter Island a very strong 4/5
