It Trailer Released, Clowns Somehow Even More Terrifying Now

Stephen King's "It" is coming to the big screen on September 8, and judging by the first Trailer released today, "It" is gonna be horrifying.

Like, beyond horrifying.

Thanks to Tim Curry, Clowns became a thing of nightmares (not that they weren't already, but still) in the 1990 TV movie of King's novel.

Amazing as it is that it's taken this long for a silver screen version, Warner Bros. is certainly making it worth the wait by the looks of this.

"When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine," the official synopsis says, evoking familiar imagery for any of King's fans.

"A group of young kids is faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise."

And, well, you know the rest.

Pennywise's "history of murder and violence dates back for centuries," the synopsis says, and in the trailer, he lives up to that billing.

The forthcoming film stars Jaeden Lieberher as Bill Denbrough, whose younger brother Georgie is one of the clown's victims.

Joining Denbrough are friends Ben Hanscom (Jeremy Ray Taylor), Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard), and Stan Uris (Wyatt Oleff).

Also along for the ride: Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs), Eddie Kaspbrak (Jack Dylan Grazer) and Beverly Marsh (Sophia Lillis).

Perhaps the most noteworthy? Bill Skarsgard, Alexander Skarsgard's brother, takes over as Pennywise from the great Curry.

The It teaser below depicts Georgie's frightening capture, after the impressionable boy loses a toy boat down a storm drain.

Pennywise's debut here is truly chilling.

In addition to a tease of the killer clown, we also get a glimpse of the so-called Losers Club discussing the strange events of late.

"Strange" may not be doing it justice, really.

With all the disappearances around Derry, something has to be amiss, and the deeper the kids dig into the mystery, the scarier it gets.

Eventually, they investigate the clown itself.

The It trailer ends, fittingly, with Bill and Georgie in the sewer, as little brother repeats the novel's most famous line to his older sibling:

"You'll float too."
