825 Ross Pearsall, artist, creator, "Super-Team Family" comic book covers

Today's Guest: Ross Pearsall, comics cover artist, "Super-Team Family" Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience full of forgotten Comic Book characters hoping Ross Pearsall will give them new life in the next “Super-Team Family” … in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! If you’re a comic book fan and you’ve never seen Ross Pearsall’s “Super-Team Family” work, put Mr. Media on pause while you look up BraveAndBoldLost.Blogspot.com – we’ll wait. Cool, right? ROSS PEARSALL podcast excerpt: "My very first covers weren't crossovers between DC and Marvel characters at all. They were: What If... The Brave and the Bold kept running? Once I exhausted that concept, people said, 'Hey, have Batman team up with Howard the Duck!' That was funny! Then I moved on to Marvel Two-in-One, swapping out Batman for The Thing, who lends himself more to humor than Batman does." Every day, Pearsall takes his – and our – imagination to infinity and beyond by bringing together familiar and obscure comics characters on the cover of a comic book that has never existed but should, “Super-Team Family.” The covers are typically in the form of the once-popular DC “Giant” comics that promised so much and usually delivered so little – but always had the best covers. Want to see the Fantastic Four cross paths with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Chewbacca? Pearsall made it happen. Marvel’s Iron Fist and TV’s “Kung Fu” Caine, as played by David Carradine? Done! How about the Black Panther meets Peter Sellers’ Pink Panther? Yup, been there, did that. And this is the only place you’ll see Black Panther and Black Lightning square off. Pearsall calls them “The greatest team-ups that never happened… but should have!” And he’s right. Today, I’ve invited Pearsall on the show to talk about how “Super-Team Family” came together, how he gets his ideas, and if the copyright holders ever come around with legal claims. With any luck, you might even see a new team-up concept come together right before your eyes. Ross Pearsall's Super-Team Family Website • Twitter
