In Search Of Darkness: Kickstarter’s hottest campaign that will quench your bloodlust !!!!

CreatorVC Studios have recently launched their Kickstarter campaign to fund “THE DEFINITIVE ’80S HORROR DOCUMENTARY”.

For the first time in Horror history, In Search of Darkness will bring together ‘80s horror icons, modern horror greats, and popular horror influencers to create the most complete retrospective documentary of the genre ever made.

Together, they will bring their unique perspectives as we take a nostalgic journey back to revisit the unforgettable heroes, monsters, and movies that thrilled and chilled us.

The campaign launched on October 4th with a goal of £25,000 – this evening (October 5th) the campaign has already generated over £16,000!!!!!!

We caught up with Executive Producer, Robin Block to find out more about Kickstarters hottest campaign.

What inspired you to create this documentary?

The revival of VHS, the cover art from the time and that I had a vision for something that I wanted to see that didn’t exist yet. So I’m trying to help make that happen. We’re currently living through a global cultural timewarp where pop-culture is looking back to the comfortable and nostalgic feeling that the ’80s era represents.

It’s what the ’50’s were to my parent’s generation and ’80s horror in slightly a counter-intuitive way is a source of familiarity and comfort for a lot of people. Our audience self-identifies with the era. We intend to produce a film that celebrates the period and reminds you of why you loved it so much.

What in your opinion makes the 80s the best decade for the horror genre?

Oh wow! So many things. It’s a nexus of forces such as the socio-political environment at the time which influenced the themes/sub-text in the films. The gorgeous, practical effects and the iconic characters that have stood the test of time. I love that these movies really pushed boundaries and were so visceral.

I find that a lot of CGI nowadays disconnects you from the story and that’s something that ’80s Horror got so right.

What legends of Horror can we expect to see collaborating on this project?

We’ve got a world-class line-up of contributors from ’80s Horror Icons like Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator), Larry Cohen (It’s Alive), Joe Dante (Gremlins), Tom Holland (Child’s Play), Lloyd Kauffman (The Toxic Avenger), Tom Savini (From Dusk till Dawn) and many more as well as modern horror greats like Leigh Whannell (Insidious).

You can see the full list on our Kickstarter page, and we will be adding to this as our campaign progresses.

What can you tell our readers about the team behind the film?

Our team is just incredible. We’re working with some of the most respected people in the industry. Our Producer Evrim Ersoy is the creative director and driving force behind Fantastic Fest, Heather Wixson (DailyDead.com) and Scott Weinberg are both on our advisory team as well as Michael Gingold who helmed Fangoria for 26 years!

We only work with the best.

What perks are available for the Kickstarter backers?

We’ve got limited edition Posters, T-shirts, DVD’s Blu-Rays all with exclusive and artwork from legendary horror artist Graham Humphreys (https://grahamhumphreys.com/).

We also have Associate Producer credits with an IMDB listing up for grabs!

If you could only pick one, what is the ultimate horror film from the 80s?

That’s not fair! Oh Man, the hardest question ever! For me, it would be a toss-up between The Thing and The Evil Dead with a special mention going to The Re-Animator.  *This list changes daily.

What was the first horror film you ever saw?

The Thing. The chest bursting scene stayed with me for years.

Who is the ultimate horror movie villain?

Has to be Freddy (from A Nightmare on Elm Street)!

When was the last time you were truly scared?

It Follows scared the sh*t out of me!

And finally, tell our readers why they need to support this project?

This documentary will make history. We’re bringing the horror community to celebrate the most beloved era in horror cinema.

All of us at IndieMacUser wish Robin and his team all the best with this project. As massive horror fans ourselves we couldn’t wait to back this project.
